Shaheen Stars as Pakistan Gold Clinch National Champions Cup Title After Beating Greens

Shamyl Hussain and Saad Khan played match-winning knocks with the bat, while Shaheen Shah Afridi produced a superb bowling display to guide Pakistan Gold to the National Champions Cup 2026 title. They defeated Pakistan Greens by 101 runs, showcasing their clear dominance in the all-important final.

Shaheen’s decision to bat first worked well as Pakistan Gold posted 340 runs before being bowled out in 50 overs. It was the highest total recorded in Pakistan’s four-team tournament to date.

Shamyl Hussain and Saad Khan remained the key batters for Gold, as the duo struck brilliant centuries to deflate the attack of Greens. Shamyl starred with a rapid 111, while Saad scored 112 with the help of 11 fours and 4 sixes.

Coming out to chase the target, Pakistan Greens failed to match the Gold’s momentum, as they were bowled out for 239 in 37.3 overs. Saad Baig remained their only key performer, as he put up a lone fight in the middle, scoring a gritty half-century.

The Greens made a quick start to the chase, with Omair Bin Yousuf and Fakhar Zaman adding 53 runs for the opening wicket. Their partnership came to an end in the eighth over when Mubasir Khan bowled Zaman.

Saad Baig then joined Yousuf at the crease, and the pair added 80 runs for the second wicket. However, both batters were dismissed in back-to-back overs, putting the Greens under pressure.

Baig top-scored for the Greens with 67 off 51 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes. Yousuf also made a valuable contribution, scoring 44 runs from 50 deliveries.

Shaheen then put Pakistan Greens under more pressure by taking three quick wickets. He removed Farhan Yousaf, Mohammad Suleman and Shadab Khan quickly, leaving the Greens at 167/6.

Faheem Ashraf and Naseem Shah then tried to bring their team back into the game with a crucial stand. However, Shaheen ended the partnership by getting Naseem caught behind.

Shaheen then produced a superb death-bowling spell, taking three wickets in the final over to seal Pakistan Gold’s victory. His hat-trick brought the Greens’ innings to an end, helping Gold secure the National Champions Cup 2026 title in style.
