Pak Women vs Zim Women 2nd ODI Live: Openers Dominate in Karachi

Pak Women vs Zim Women 2nd ODI Live: Openers Dominate in Karachi

Pakistan Women produced a clinical batting exhibition to reach 151/0 at the halfway mark of the second One-Day International against Zimbabwe Women at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the hosts capitalized on a flat deck to firmly establish control as they looked to secure the series. The opening pair of Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas dominated the first 25 overs, frustrating the Zimbabwean attack with a perfect blend of aggression and strike rotation. Feroza reached the mid-point of the innings nearing a century, batting on 81 off 78 deliveries*, highlighted by 11 boundaries. Her partner, Shamas, played a composed supporting role, scoring 65 from 72 balls* with 8 fours.

Powerplay Dominance

Zimbabwe’s new-ball pair, Nomvelo Sibanda and Adel Zimunhu, struggled to find early lateral movement under the Karachi sun. Pakistan’s openers were quick to pounce on anything wide or short, racing to 58/0 within the first 10 overs. Despite Zimbabwe captain Sibanda trying to stem the flow of runs with tight lines, Feroza’s footwork allowed her to pierce the infield consistently.

The Middle Overs Squeeze

As the field spread, Zimbabwe introduced spin and medium-pace through Beloved Biza and Lindokuhle Mabhero. While the scoring rate dipped slightly, the breakthrough remained elusive. The visitors' fielding under pressure also showed signs of fatigue as the partnership crossed the 100-run mark in the 17th over.
