Pak Women vs Ban Women Live: Bangladesh Set 124 Run Target

SOUTHAMPTON: Shorna Akter played a vital cameo to help Bangladesh Women post a competitive 123 for 6 against Pakistan Women in their crucial Group 1 fixture of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Utilita Bowl.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh endured a disastrous start against a disciplined Pakistani bowling attack. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana set the tone in the opening over, striking twice in quick succession to dismantle the Bangladesh top order. Struggling to cope with the early swing, Bangladesh was left reeling at 23 for 3 within the Powerplay.

Skipper Nigar Sultana anchored the recovery with a mature, calculated innings. Sultana scored a steady 36 off 38 deliveries, striking five boundaries to stabilize the innings. She found a capable partner in Sobhana Mostary, who chipped in with a brisk 22 off 19 balls, including three fours, before falling to the spin of Nashra Sandhu.

The momentum shifted drastically in the death overs courtesy of Shorna Akter. Coming in at number six, Akter counter-attacked with intent, smashing a rapid 39 off just 22 balls. Her aggressive knock featured five boundaries, injecting much-needed urgency into the innings and helping Bangladesh plunder 30 runs from the final three overs.

For Pakistan, Fatima Sana was the pick of the bowlers, returning exceptional figures of 2 for 18 from her four overs. Left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu provided excellent control through the middle overs, finishing with 1 for 14, while Sadia Iqbal claimed 1 for 21.

Left-arm pacer Tasmia Rubab picked up a wicket but proved expensive, conceding 40 runs from her quota. Bangladesh finishes on 123 for 6, leaving Pakistan with a target of 124 to secure their first points of the tournament.
