Pak Women vs Ban Women Live: Fatima Sana Destroys Top Order in Powerplay

SOUTHAMPTON: Pakistan took absolute control of their must-win T20 World Cup 2026 clash by reducing Bangladesh to a miserable 23 for 3 in the Powerplay at the Utilita Bowl. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana led a brilliant bowling display to leave Bangladesh’s top-order in ruins after six overs.

Early Damage by the Captain

Bangladesh’s decision to bat first backfired immediately against Pakistan’s sharp new-ball attack. Fatima Sana led from the front, exploiting the early movement to dismantle the opposition top-order. She struck in her very first over, removing opener Dilara Akter with a delivery that nipped back. In the same over, she got another wicket of Sharmin Akhter (0).  

Sana bowled three consecutive overs in the Powerplay, finishing her spell with exceptional figures of 2 wickets for 9 runs, including a maiden over.

Top-Order Collapse

The Bangladesh batters found it impossible to rotate the strike or break the field restrictions. Dilara Akter was the first to go, caught for 5 runs after failing to handle the extra bounce. Juairiya Ferdous tried to weather the storm but became the third casualty when left-arm pacer Tasmia Rubab struck in her opening over.

Bangladesh managed only two boundaries during the entire six-over restriction period.

Must-Win Stakes

By the end of the Powerplay, Sobhana Mostary and captain Nigar Sultana were left with a massive rebuilding job. Pakistan's clinical start has put them in a dominant position to secure their first points in Group 1.
