Fatima Sana’s Heroic Fifty Lifts Pakistan Women to 126/9 Against South Africa

Pakistan Women staged a remarkable recovery after a top-order collapse, finishing on 126/9 in their 20 overs against South Africa Women, courtesy of an outstanding unbeaten innings from captain Fatima Sana.

The innings began disastrously for Pakistan as Marizanne Kapp struck with the very first delivery of the match, trapping Muneeba Ali lbw for a duck. Gull Feroza followed soon after, and Kapp continued her dominance by removing Ayesha Zafar, leaving Pakistan reeling at 14/3.

Ayabonga Khaka added to Pakistan's misery by dismissing Natalia Pervaiz, while two run-outs further dented the innings. By the end of the powerplay, Pakistan Women had managed only 29 runs while losing five wickets.

The wickets continued to tumble as Aliya Riaz and Nashra Sandhu departed, reducing Pakistan to 50/8 after 10.4 overs. At that stage, a total of around 80 appeared likely.

However, skipper Fatima Sana had other plans. Showing composure under pressure, she counterattacked the South African bowlers and found an able partner in Tuba Hassan. The pair stitched together a crucial 71-run stand for the ninth wicket, bringing Pakistan back into the contest.

Fatima Sana remained unbeaten on 55 off just 38 balls, striking six fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 144.73. She reached her half-century in only 35 deliveries and played one of the finest rescue acts of her T20 career.

Tuba Hassan provided valuable support with 23 runs from 27 balls as the duo guided Pakistan past the 100-run mark.

For South Africa Women, Marizanne Kapp was the standout bowler with figures of 3/23, while Shabnim Ismail and Ayabonga Khaka picked up one wicket each.

After being reduced to 50/8, Pakistan Women will take confidence from their late resurgence as they posted a competitive total of 126/9, thanks largely to the fighting spirit of captain Fatima Sana.
