New Zealand Beat West Indies As Jayden Lennox Takes Four Wickets

West Indies' batting problems came back to haunt them in Georgetown as New Zealand completed a comfortable six-wicket victory in the third ODI, moving 2-1 ahead in the five-match series.

After losing the toss and being sent in at Providence Stadium, West Indies managed only 140 in 37.1 overs. Keacy Carty stood almost alone in the resistance, scoring 48 from 77 balls, while Akeem Auguste and Shimron Hetmyer contributed 26 each.

The rest offered little.

Jayden Lennox tore into the batting order with figures of 4 for 52 from 10 overs. His spell gave the hosts no room to rebuild, earning him Player of the Match honours. Jayden Lennox four wickets proved decisive on a day when West Indies needed someone to stay at the crease and drag the innings deeper.

Mitchell Santner tightened the screws with 2 for 15 from 8.1 overs, while Michael Bracewell picked up 2 for 33. West Indies were dismissed with nearly 13 overs of their innings still available, a statistic that will raise uncomfortable questions about their approach.

Chasing 141, New Zealand had no reason to panic. Tom Latham struck an unbeaten 31 from 53 balls, Daryl Mitchell added 28 from 49 and Henry Nicholls made 24 from 48.

West Indies did find four wickets, with Vitel Orlando Lawes returning 3 for 39 from 10 overs. Khary Pierre also struck once, but the target was far too small to create serious pressure.

New Zealand reached 141 for 4 in 39.3 overs, sealing victory with 63 balls remaining.

The New Zealand vs West Indies ODI result puts the visitors in control of the series at 2-1. For West Indies, the bigger concern is familiar: a batting unit failing to use its full allocation of overs.

For New Zealand, Jayden Lennox four wickets delivered the breakthrough performance. For the hosts, another collapse has left their series hopes under growing pressure.
