Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April 2026 after a strong ODI series against New Zealand.
He was in great rhythm throughout the series, picking up eight wickets in three matches against the Black Caps. He carried that form from March as well, where he also took eight wickets in a three-match series against Pakistan.
This is the first time Nahid has received an ICC monthly award. By doing so, he also became the first Bangladesh men’s player to win the award since all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed the same accolade in April last year.
Speaking about the ICC honors, Nahid Rana said that it is a wonderful achievement that reflects his hard work and growing passion for the game.
“It’s a great feeling to be named ICC Player of the Month after performing well against a world-class side like New Zealand,” said the Bangladesh speedster, Nahid Rana.
He then thanked his teammates for their constant support, saying they always stood by him during every stage.
“To deliver on home soil made the series even more special, and it is one I will always cherish. I am grateful to my team-mates for their constant support and belief in me throughout." said Nahid Rana.
“I hope to keep contributing to more victories and memorable moments for my team,” added Nahid Rana.
Talking about the New Zealand series, Nahid Rana had a slow start in the first ODI, where he managed only one wicket for 65 runs. But he came back strongly in the second game, picking up the second five-wicket haul of his career.
In the third and final ODI in Chattogram, he once again played a key role by taking two wickets at important moments, helping Bangladesh wrap up the series 2–1. His consistent performances throughout the series also saw him named Player of the Series.
In total, Rana took eight wickets in the New Zealand series, finishing with an average of 16.75 and an economy rate of 4.46. Due to this, he has now secured the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for April 2026, showcasing why he is a rising name in world cricket.
