Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has signed up for PSL season 11 after KKR released him on BCCI’s call. The PSL confirmed this on social media, marking his first appearance in the tournament’s new phase.
A graphic featuring Mustafizur welcomed him to PSL 11, accompanied by a caption that leaned into his reputation for late swing and sharp cutters.
Mustafizur’s PSL move follows his release from Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the 2026 season. The decision, according to reports, stemmed from directives issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, triggering a sharp reaction across Bangladesh’s cricket circles.
Within days, the episode drifted beyond squad lists and contracts. Officials back home demanded clarity, questioning both timing and intent. The bowler, meanwhile, stayed silent, allowing the cricket to do the talking.
PSL organisers highlighted Mustafizur’s deep international resume. Fifteen tests, and over a hundred ODIs, and more than 120 T20Is. Those numbers reflect years spent adapting to different conditions, surfaces, and pressures.
For PSL teams, his left-arm angle offers a rare balance. He has strong powerplay control and can easily squeeze middle-overs. He can swing the ball with pace and take the pace off when needed, which adds to core strength.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board asked for clarity, and government officials stepped in. Bangladesh later pulled out of its planned ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 tour of India over security concerns. An IPL broadcast ban followed. In that context, Mustafizur’s move to the PSL feels deliberate, not routine. Cricket goes on, but the noise remains.
