KARACHI: The Multan Sultans defeated the Karachi Kings by 11 runs in Match 28 of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the National Stadium. Multan set a target of 208 after posting 207/7, while Karachi was bowled out for 196 in the final over of the chase.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, the Multan Sultans established a solid foundation during the powerplay. While Steve Smith fell early for a duck, the top order recovered quickly through Awais Zafar and Josh Philippe. Philippe was particularly effective, scoring 44 off 23 balls with five boundaries and a six.
Shan Masood added further momentum to the innings, contributing 46 runs off 25 deliveries, including three sixes and three boundaries. Karachi's spinners, led by Khushdil Shah, managed to stall the progress in the middle overs as wickets fell in quick succession. Khushdil finished as the standout bowler for the Kings, taking 3 for 35 in his four overs.
However, a late flourish from Mohammad Imran, who scored 26 runs off just eight balls, pushed Multan's total past the 200-run mark to finish at 207/7.
Karachi Kings began their pursuit of 208 with mixed results, losing three wickets during the mandatory powerplay to end the first six overs at 49/3. Reeza Hendricks provided stability at the top of the order, narrowly missing a half-century with 49 runs from 32 balls. Moeen Ali also chipped in with 27 runs, while the required rate continued to climb.
The middle order struggled to keep pace against a disciplined Multan bowling attack. Arafat Minhas was instrumental for the Sultans, picking up three wickets for 32 runs to keep Karachi under pressure. Peter Siddle also contributed significantly, taking 2 for 28 in his four-over spell.
Late in the innings, Abbas Afridi gave Kings hope with a rapid 34 off 16 balls, including two sixes. His hitting reduced the equation, but the Multan bowlers executed their plans in the final stages. Karachi was eventually bowled out for 196 in 19.4 overs, falling 11 runs short of the target.
This victory strengthens Multan’s standing in the tournament while leaving Karachi with their fourth consecutive defeat.
