Muchova and Mensik Win US Open 2026 Mixed Doubles Crown

Karolina Muchova and Jakub Mensik claimed their first Grand Slam title together at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Wednesday, beating Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 to take the US Open 2026 mixed doubles crown and a $1 million prize.

The victory came just days before both players begin their singles campaigns at the U.S. Open. Mensik, seeded 18th in the men's draw, and seventh seed Muchova will now carry the confidence of a Grand Slam title into their respective singles tournaments.

The Czech pair had already survived a major test earlier in the day. They saved two match points in the semifinal against Andrey Rublev and Mirra Andreeva, recovering from a 9-7 deficit in the deciding tiebreak to win four consecutive points and book their place in the final.

They then made a fast start against Bencic and Cobolli, taking the opening set 6-3. The Italian-Swiss combination responded immediately, dropping only one game in the second set to send the contest into a championship tiebreak.

Neither side managed to establish control early in the decider, but Muchova and Mensik eventually created enough separation to close out the match. Mensik sealed the title with an ace on championship point.

For both players, the trophy represents a first Grand Slam title in any discipline. Mensik has yet to reach a major singles final, though he enjoyed a breakthrough run to the French Open semifinals earlier this year. Prior to this week, he had never advanced past the third round in New York.

"It's my first time standing here," Mensik said after Wednesday's victory. "I didn't expect this before the tournament, but it's such great fun. It was amazing to play and start the US Open like that."

Muchova brings considerably more singles experience into the remainder of the tournament. She has reached two Grand Slam finals in singles, with her latest coming at Wimbledon earlier this year, where she lost to Linda Noskova in three sets.

With the mixed doubles title secured, both players will turn their attention to singles when the U.S. Open gets under way on Sunday.
