Sixers Captain Henriques Reveals Babar Took Couple of Days to Move Past Denied Single Saga

The captain of Sydney Sixers, Moises Henriques, revealed that Babar Azam was quite upset over the on-field disagreement with Steve Smith, as he took a couple of days to move past it. Henriques also believes that the issue might have arisen due to cultural differences, as Babar took time to adapt to it.

For the unversed, the controversy evolved in the last Sydney Sixers vs Sydney Thunder match when Steve Smith denied Babar Azam a single before the start of the Power Surge over. The incident made Babar so upset that he remained in the dressing room even after the end of the match, showcasing his clear disappointment over the incident.

"It took a couple of days for that to settle down. To be honest, think it's just a bit of a misunderstanding of culture of each other.” said Sydney Sixers captain, Moises Henriques.

He further added that once Babar was explained how things usually work in the Australian cricket circuit, he immediately understood it and returned to normal.

"It's a pretty common thing in our culture, and maybe for him (Babar) he wasn't used to it and didn't quite understand. Once it was explained to him he was absolutely fine. They've kissed and made up and it's two of the greats back friendly again." said Moises Henriques while talking to the media.

Henriques also revealed that he and Sydney Sixers coach Greg Shipperd spoke with Babar Azam personally to calm things down. It was certainly not a big issue, as Babar immediately came to terms with the fact after analyzing the situation.

"[We are] always trying to understand…we could visibly see he was quite upset with what happened on the field, so we needed to try and understand why he felt that way. Once we got to the bottom of it, it was okay." said Moises Henriques.

It should be noted that both Babar Azam and Steve Smith also chatted comfortably with each other before the Brisbane Heat clash. Smith also revealed that everything is fine between them, as the misunderstanding did not last long.

"He's good, we chatted before. I thought he batted really nicely the other night, we had a good partnership and put on a few." said Steve Smith.
