Mohammad Rizwan Credits PCB and Najam Sethi for PSL Success

The captain of RawalPindiz, Mohammad Rizwan, hailed the efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its former chairman Najam Sethi for the success of the PSL. He said everyone in the PCB, including Sethi deserves full credit for the success PSL has achieved over the years.

The Pakistan Super League, launched by the PCB under Najam Sethi in 2015, began with five teams and drew strong interest from both fans and investors. It quickly rose among the ranks of top franchise leagues in the world by showcasing action-packed T20 cricket in every season.

In 2018, the tournament grew to six teams with the addition of Multan Sultans, and that number stayed the same until the 10th edition of the tournament. The league then expanded further, with two new teams being bought for a total of Rs3.6 billion recently.

"Obviously, it is the effort of PCB because of the stage at which he started. I think the credit definitely goes to Najam Sethi. The way he took this step and the way he brought the people. He should be remembered," said Mohammad Rizwan at the PSL 11 captain's conference.

Rizwan then applauded the efforts of the current management in taking the league to the new heights of success. He said it was remarkable to see how RawalPindiz was recently acquired at a big budget, showcasing the growing financial value of the PSL teams.

"And the way the [current] management took the league forward, even our franchise was [sold at Rs245 million], I think it's a big achievement," said Mohammad Rizwan.

The wicketkeeper-batter then shed light on Pakistan’s national side, saying the team is currently facing some issues, but he is confident that it will soon return to winning ways by finding the right combination.

"But from a cricketing point of view, perhaps the nation is disappointed at the moment, but as mentioned, new players are coming through," said Mohammad Rizwan.

"The issue may be with combinations not settling properly. Once that is resolved, Pakistan will return to a position where the nation and the fans will be satisfied." added Mohammad Rizwan.
