The 31-year-old all-rounder scored 36 runs in just 20 balls and claimed three wickets, which showed that he is one of the most reliable performers in white-ball cricket for Pakistan. That performance lifted him to sixth in the recent ICC Men’s T20I all-rounder rankings, making his career best, climbing eight places in one jump.

In the opening T20 match in Pakistan vs South Africa, Pakistan lost by 55 runs, but Muhammad Nawaz’s performance was one of the few highlights. His ability demonstrates that he is not just a useful lower-order batter, but a match-turner.

Meanwhile, Saim Ayub is ranked at the top among the ICC all-rounder charts with 262 points ahead of Hardik Pandya of India and Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan. In the batting charts, Sahibzada Farhan shifted a step up to 11th and established himself as the highest-ranked T20I batter in Pakistan. Babar Azam remained on 39th, and Mohammad Rizwan improved to 40th.

Abrar Ahmed, a Pakistani spinner, dropped to the 8th position with Shaheen Shah Afridi moving to 16th. Sufiyan Muqeem and Haris Rauf slipped to 19th and 34th positions, respectively, and Nawaz further gained ground, soaring up to 33rd.

ODI batting rankings have also slightly changed. Rizwan is ranked 24th, Imam ul Haq 41st, and Saim Ayub 53rd.

The bigger story of this week is Nawaz. His name keeps coming up, not just in scorecards but also in conversations about Pakistan’s white-ball core. The left-arm all-rounder has quietly turned out to be one of the most consistent players in the team.

Rawalpindi didn’t bring Pakistan a win, but it reminded fans that Mohammad Nawaz is still in his prime and he is still climbing.
