Controversy Brews as Mohammad Amir Warns India Before Semis

The spotlight is back on Mohammad Amir prediction after India sealed their berth in the India T20 World Cup semifinals. There were doubts that followed their defeat to South Africa, just as Amir had predicted. Social media did not hold back.

Amir had earlier insisted India would not reach the final four. That call now sits awkwardly against the scoreboard. Back-to-back wins over Zimbabwe and West Indies changed the script quickly. Few saw this coming.

On a TV show, Amir stood firm. He argued India are not playing “good cricket,” pointing at sloppy fielding and expensive spells from bowlers not named Jasprit Bumrah.

He questioned Hardik Pandya’s impact in big matches. He even suggested the side are not favourites despite reaching the India T20 World Cup semifinals.

A Review, A Debate, A Turning Point

Then came the Hetmyer moment.

During the West Indies chase, Shimron Hetmyer edged the ball to the keeper. Jasprit Bumrah appealed straight away and the umpire gave him out.

Amir believes that call shifted momentum. He claimed the dismissal was debatable and hinted India were fortunate. “If he stayed, 220 or more was possible,” he said. That one moment flipped everything.

India now prepare to face England for WC Semi Final at Wankhede Stadium. The stands are expected to be packed, and the atmosphere intense. In semifinals, predictions often mean very little once the match begins.

Yet the Mohammad Amir prediction keeps trending. Fans have receipts. Critics have opinions. And as the semifinal looms, the debate only adds fuel to an already fierce contest.
