Mitchell Marsh Ruled Out Against Pakistan as Josh Inglis Takes Reins of Updated Squad
RAWALPINDI: Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of Australia’s ODI tour of Pakistan due to an ankle injury, with wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis set to captain the side in the three-match series beginning on May 30.
Cricket Australia confirmed that Marsh will remain in Perth for treatment and further assessment after also missing the closing stages of the recent IPL season 2026 with Lucknow Super Giants. His availability for Australia’s upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh will be reviewed later.
The injury has forced changes to the touring party ahead of Australia’s return to Pakistan for a bilateral ODI series. Emerging fast bowler Ollie Peake is in line for a possible international debut as the visitors reshape their pace options for the tour.
Australia Updated Squad Against Pakistan
The Australia updated squad against Pakistan includes Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis (c/wk), Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Riley Meredith, Ollie Peake, Matthew Renshaw, Tanveer Sangha, Liam Scott, Matt Short, Billy Stanlake and Adam Zampa.
Australia’s squad features a mix of experienced white-ball players and younger options as they prepare for conditions in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Inglis will lead the side for the series in Marsh’s absence.
Pakistan-Australia ODI Schedule
The opening match of the series will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on May 30. The remaining two ODIs are scheduled for June 2 and June 4 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Australia last toured Pakistan for a 50-over series in 2022, when the hosts secured a 2-1 win. Earlier this year, Pakistan also defeated Australia 3-0 in a T20I series played in Lahore.
With Marsh unavailable, Australia will head into the series with a revised combination and a relatively inexperienced pace attack against a Pakistan side that has performed strongly at home in recent white-ball contests.
