Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz broke his silence on the controversial run-out involving Salman Ali Agha in the 2nd ODI. He said his focus was only on the ball, as Agha was out of his crease. This certainly implies that Miraz took advantage of the situation when Agha didn’t realize how far he was away from the wicket.
The controversial incident happened in the 39th over when Mehidy Hasan Miraz sent Salman Ali Agha back to the pavilion with an unusual run-out. It made the Pakistan T20I captain quite furious, however, the decision by the third-umpire eventually forced him to return back to the dugout.
"He was away from the wicket, and I was just looking for the ball. If you miss, he would go for the run. So I was just thinking like that," said Mehidy Hasan Miraz at the post-match presentation.
Following the dismissal of Salman Ali Agha, Mohammad Rizwan also lost his wicket in the same over, which quickly triggered a batting collapse for the Pakistan team. The green shirts lost five more wickets afterwards for just 43 runs, which eventually bundled them out for 274.
Coming out to chase the target, the Tigers delivered a disappointing batting performance, as Pakistan’s bowlers kept them under pressure by taking regular wickets. As a result, they were skittled for just 114 runs, handing Pakistan a big victory in the 2nd ODI of the series.
Talking about this poor performance, Mehidy Hasan Miraz said that the batters didn’t played well in the first ten overs which allowed Pakistan to put pressure on them. He is confident that the team will now make a strong comeback in the next match by rectifying their recent mistakes.
"We didn't execute well in the first ten overs, which we did the last time. It's a very good wicket to bat on, but our top-order batters didn't get many runs. We have to improve our batting and need to take more responsibility." said Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
