PSG Tighten Grip on Ligue 1 Title Race: Barcola Header Secures Four-Point Lead as Luis Enrique Warns of Fading Confidence

Paris Saint-Germain stretched their advantage in the Ligue 1 title race to four points, but the mood around the reigning champions remains measured rather than celebratory.

A narrow 1-0 win away to Le Havre delivered the points PSG needed after Lens stumbled 24 hours earlier. Bradley Barcola’s first-half header, his ninth league goal of the campaign, proved decisive, yet the performance reflected a side still searching for rhythm rather than one in full control.

Luis Enrique rotated heavily, leaving key figures either injured or rested, and the reshuffled XI looked efficient without being emphatic. Desire Doue had the chance to make the margin comfortable late on, only to see his penalty saved, another reminder of PSG’s inconsistency from the spot this season.

The broader conversation, however, is less about aesthetics and more about authority. PSG have now won nine of their last ten domestic matches, a run that underlines resilience. But Luis Enrique was quick to temper optimism.

“There are no nice and easy games for PSG because every match is important. We need to get players back and improve because we have less confidence than usual at the moment,” he said.

It was a telling admission. Despite the growing cushion at the summit, confidence has not fully mirrored results. Injuries to attacking leaders and constant rotation have left the side functional, though not fluent

Still, the numbers matter. “It is the first time we have had a four-point gap at the top, so this is a time for us to be happy. It was important to get the win here,” the coach added.

With a Champions League knockout clash looming, PSG’s ability to grind out results could be as valuable as their flair. The Ligue 1 title race may not be settled, but momentum, if not complete conviction, currently sits in Paris.
