Paris Saint-Germain delivered a stunning performance to crush Real Madrid 4–0 in the Club World Cup semi-final at MetLife Stadium, booking their place in Sunday’s final against Chelsea.

PSG drew first blood just six minutes in when Fabián Ruiz capitalised on a defensive error to volley the opener. Ousmane Dembélé swiftly followed with a composed finish in the ninth minute after intercepting a pass. Ruiz struck again in the 24th minute, capping a lightning-quick counterattack after a slick Hakimi–Dembélé interplay.

With the match beyond doubt, PSG eased off in the second period, yet Gonçalo Ramos ensured a memorable 4–0 final score with a late strike in the 87th minute.

  • Luis Enrique made it clear PSG never dialled back intensity, attributing the slightly lower pace to extreme heat, upcoming final, and player fatigue. He praised his squad's transformation and commitment from January to now.

  • Ousmane Dembélé made club history—becoming the first player since 2002–03 to assist or score twice against Real Madrid within nine minutes.

  • Xabi Alonso, on the other hand, called for a “new age” at Real Madrid, blaming tactical rigidity and missing key players for a painful defeat.

  • Spanish media were scathing, pointing to defensive lapses, coaching errors, and a worrying tactical collapse at one of football’s most historic clubs.

What’s next

  • Sunday final: PSG will face Chelsea for the Club World Cup crown at MetLife Stadium, with a potential quadruple on the line.

  • PSG’s quest: Having already won Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and the Champions League this season, winning this would complete one of the most dominant campaigns in recent history.

  • Real Madrid rebuild: Alonso suggests this match will be remembered as a catalyst for systemic overhaul—defensive structure, personnel, and tactics will all be scrutinised ahead of next season .

PSG’s emphatic 4–0 semi-final victory sends a clear warning: they’re more than just favourites, they’re forceful finalists charging toward historic glory.
