KKR Stumble Again As Green Call Backfires In Tense Chase

KKR Stumble Again As Green Call Backfires In Tense Chase

Kolkata Knight Riders left the field knowing this loss would hurt, not because they were outplayed, but because the game had been firmly in their grasp for most of the night.

At one stage, control was firmly theirs. The scoreboard wasn’t massive, 181 for 4, but it felt defendable. The bowlers backed that up early. Wickets fell, pressure built, and Lucknow looked stuck. Then came the shift.

When control started to slip

The middle overs had already raised concerns as the scoring slowed and the intent seemed to dip. Ajinkya Rahane kept the innings moving, but around him the approach felt a touch cautious, as if the momentum was slipping away.

That’s where Cameron Green performance in IPL 2026 became a talking point again.

He stayed unbeaten, yes. But it never quite kicked into gear. There were moments he looked unsure, caught between holding back and going big. That pause cost momentum. And in T20, momentum doesn’t wait.

Rinku Singh’s short stay didn’t help either. He looked off balance, almost rushed. Not something you see often.

Still, 181 gave KKR something to defend. And for most of the chase, they did it well.

Wickets kept falling at regular intervals, and by the 16th over Lucknow were firmly on the back foot, with the crowd sensing the shift as the noise began to build.

Yet the game never fully closed out, and when Green was given the 19th over, it drew immediate attention, especially with other established options still available for that crucial phase.

Instead, the gamble went the other way.

Sixteen runs came off that over. Suddenly, the equation changed and the pressure flipped sides.

Mukul Choudhary showed no hesitation as he went on the attack, striking cleanly and with full confidence, leaving the field momentarily stunned between boundaries.

KKR attempted to regain control in the final over, but by then the damage had already been done and the chase was effectively sealed.

For KKR, this defeat continues a worrying trend, with just one point from four matches reflecting a side that hasn’t quite found its rhythm yet. The pieces are there, but they are still not coming together when it matters most.

The conversation around KKR vs LSG IPL 2026 will inevitably return to those closing overs, where key decisions and execution under pressure let the game slip from their control.

Games like this don’t fade quickly; they linger. Right now, KKR are searching for answers more than points.
