Australia restructured its white-ball teams ahead of the third ODI at Sydney and the T20I series. The major signing is a 24-year-old all-rounder, Jack Edwards, who played from New South Wales.
With good performances with Australia A in India, Edwards impressed selectors, scoring runs and taking wickets. That's added to his lineup, allowing Australia to test an all-rounder in the final ODI at SCG on Saturday, October 25.
Glenn Maxwell and Ben Dwarshuis will join later in the five-match T20I series. Maxwell missed the initial games with a wrist injury and Dwarshuis was also hurt with a calf strain. Their return will add balance and experience to the middle order.
Mahli Beardman, who is 20, also called up for the last three T20 matches. His domestic cricket achievements have featured on the headline news when he claimed 12 wickets in his initial four List A matches with Western Australia.
Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from the ODI team to prepare for Queensland's Sheffield Shield against New South Wales. Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott will also miss the back-end of the series of T20I matches to play Shield match against Victoria.
Australia has a balanced squad with both young and experienced players. With the last ODI in Sydney ahead, the fans are hoping that players such as Edwards can shine in the national team.
