Islamabad United thrashed RawalPindiz in a dominating fashion, as Sameer Minhas played a superb knock of 70 runs to lead the chase in the second innings. Due to his spectacular hitting, Islamabad United sealed the chase in just 14.2 overs, securing second position on the PSL 2026 points table.
Batting first, RawalPindiz endured a horrible start, as both Mohammad Rizwan and Yasir Khan went back to the pavilion early in the Powerplay. This brought a lot of pressure on the Pindiz batting lineup, as they were depending on them to get a fast start.
However, the arrival of Kamran Ghulam at number three calmed their nerves, as he played a steady knock to take the team out of trouble. His little partnership with Daryl Mitchell was crucial, as it allowed RawalPindiz to come back on track.
The duo was looking to go big, but Salman Irshad removed Mitchell in the 10th over to give United a crucial breakthrough. Soon after that, Kamran Ghulam also lost his wicket after scoring a fifty with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes.
The middle order of RawalPindiz then stumbled badly, as United picked back-to-back wickets to gain an edge in the match. The late order cameo of Dian Forrester then provided some relief, as his knock of 44 off 19 balls helped RawalPindiz to score 156 at the end of the first innings.
Coming out to chase the target, Islamabad United showcased a dominant batting performance from the start. Despite losing Devon Conway early, Sameer Minhas kept playing positively to take the scoreboard forward. His innings of 70 off 36 balls gave United a strong impetus to chase the target, leaving RawalPindiz completely clueless in the field.
After the dismissal of Minhas, Haider Ali and Mark Chapman took the lead to score briskly. Due to their rapid partnership, Islamabad United sealed the chase inside 14.2 overs, securing a big 7-wicket victory in the match. They are now placed second on the PSL 2026 points table, with two wins in four matches.
