Is Raphinha Fit for El Clasico Against Real Madrid?

BARCELONA: With the season's first El Clasico fast approaching, FC Barcelona fans worldwide have one major question on their minds: Is Raphinha fit for El clasico against Real Madrid?

The 29-year-old Brazilian international, who has been in scintillating form under Hansi Flick this season with 14 goals and three assists, handed the Catalan giants a massive scare during the international break. Raphinha was substituted at halftime during Brazil's 4-2 victory over Australia after experiencing severe discomfort in his right thigh.

Initial fears of a long-term hamstring layoff threatened to derail his exceptional campaign, but subsequent medical evaluations back in Catalonia have provided a massive sigh of relief.

Medical Diagnosis and Current Recovery Status

According to official club sources, detailed medical tests confirmed that the forward suffered a thigh edema rather than a muscular tear. Because an edema is primarily fluid buildup and swelling rather than structural tissue damage, the diagnosis drastically shortened his anticipated recovery timeline.

The forward has already taken significant steps forward in his rehabilitation program. Journalist Santi Ovalle reported via El Larguero that Raphinha has successfully returned to individual pitch training. He has been spotted working on the grass at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, gradually intensifying his workload separate from the main group.

Will Raphinha Return Against Real Madrid?

While his progress is highly encouraging, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is notorious for taking an incredibly cautious approach with players returning from muscle-related ailments, particularly given the captain's heavy workload last season.

Barcelona President Joan Laporta recently reinforced this structured timeline, stating in an interview: "He got injured, came back, and has recovered here. The doctors say he'll be available for the match in Paris."

Barring an unexpected setback during his integration into full group training next week, Raphinha will be fit to play against Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The tactical priority for Flick’s coaching staff is to use the marquee Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain as a springboard to build the winger's match sharpness.

This deliberate management ensures that when the arch-rivals arrive in Barcelona, the Blaugrana captain will not just be medically cleared, but physically primed to spearhead the attack from the opening whistle.
