Real Madrid&rsquo;s win over Villarreal was overshadowed by a red card for Vinicius Jr, who was sent off for pulling Nathan Saliba&rsquo;s hair during the second half.

The incident happened in the 72nd minute, shortly after the Brazilian winger thought he had scored his second goal of the game. Jose Mourinho celebrated the goal from the sidelines, but the referee checked the incident on the pitchside monitor and disallowed it after spotting Vinicius pulling Saliba&rsquo;s hair. The official then showed the Real Madrid forward a straight red card, just 20 minutes after he came on for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The decision angered Real Madrid, with Mourinho also missing the mandatory post-match news conference.

Before the controversial red card, Yan Diomande had given Real the lead in the 62nd minute. The 19-year-old scored his first goal for the club since arriving from RB Leipzig in August in a deal worth up to &pound;120 million. His finish was initially ruled out for offside, but a VAR review allowed the goal to stand.

Meanwhile, other Madrid stars including Kylian Mbappe had a difficult night in front of goal, missing several opportunities and being denied by goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi. Apart from him, Jude Bellingham also had a rough outing, as he received a yellow card after committing a foul.

With Barcelona <a href="https://www.tapmad.com/blog/barcelona-defeat-getafe-in-la-liga-clash/8450-5-0">beating</a> Getafe 3-0 earlier in the day, the victory was important for Mourinho&rsquo;s side as they looked to cut the gap at the top of La Liga points table.

After eight matches, Real Madrid sit six points behind archrivals Barcelona. The two sides are due to meet on October 25, giving Mourinho&rsquo;s team a chance to make up ground in the title race.

Real Madrid secured a hard-fought win over Villarreal to collect three important points and stay in the race for the La Liga title.

Real Madrid Secure Vital Three Points With Win Over Villarreal

Barcelona continued their perfect start to the La Liga season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Getafe, as goals from Anthony Gordon, Gabriel Jesus and Jules Kounde secured an eighth consecutive league win for Hansi Flick&#39;s side.

The Catalan giants wasted little time making their mark on the contest, taking the lead just two minutes after kick-off. Gordon found the net with an early effort that took a deflection on its way past the Getafe goalkeeper, giving the hosts an immediate advantage. This early breakthrough allowed Barcelona to settle into their passing game and dictate the tempo as they looked to extend their lead.

Getafe attempted to organize themselves defensively after conceding so early, but Barcelona continued to control possession and search for openings. Flick&#39;s side moved the ball patiently, looking to exploit spaces in the opposition&#39;s defensive formation while keeping Getafe pinned back for long periods.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the 30th minute through Gabriel Jesus, who marked his debut for Barcelona with a stunning left-footed goal. The Brazilian striker finished off an attacking move to make it 2-0, rewarding his team&#39;s attacking approach and giving the home supporters further reason to celebrate.

Getafe faced a difficult task heading into the interval, trailing by two goals against a Barcelona side that had already demonstrated its ability to punish defensive mistakes.

Despite a shaky opening, <a href="https://www.tapmad.com/blog/valencia-vs-barcelona-barcelona-defeats-valencia-5-0/7952-5-0">Barcelona</a> maintained their advantage in the second half and continued to create opportunities. Flick introduced fresh players as the match progressed, with Ferm&iacute;n Lopez and Pedri among those brought on in the 61st minute to maintain the team&#39;s energy and control.

Getafe also showed some consistency in the defence, however, the decisive third Barca strike eventually arrived in the 73rd minute when Kounde finished from close range to make it 3-0 on the board. The goal was initially reviewed by VAR before being confirmed, leaving Getafe with little time to mount a meaningful comeback.

The Catalan giants continued to threaten in the closing stages, with Yamal and other attacking players searching for further opportunities. Getafe also attempted to push forward, but the visitors could not find a breakthrough against the home side. As a result, Barcelona sealed a comfortable victory at Camp Nou, which further solidified their position at the top of the La Liga points table.

Barcelona defeated Getafe 3-0 to secure their eighth straight La Liga win, with Anthony Gordon, Gabriel Jesus and Jules Kounde all finding the net.

Deportivo La Coruna vs Real Betis Highlights as Match Ends 1-1

MADRID: Atletico Madrid secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium, moving ahead of their bitter city rivals into second place in the current La Liga standings.&nbsp;

The highly tactical <a href="https://www.tapmad.com/blog/atletico-madrid-vs-real-madrid-laliga-match-preview/8126-5-0">Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid</a> fixture was ultimately decided early in the second half by a pivotal red card and a quick succession of goals, ensuring that Atletico Madrid defeats Real Madrid to close the gap on league leaders Barcelona in the domestic championship race.

The opening 45 minutes focused heavily on defensive organization, mid-block structures, and rigid tactical discipline from both managers on the touchline. Diego Simeone&rsquo;s side successfully disrupted Real Madrid&rsquo;s possession play in the middle third of the pitch, leading to a succession of physical confrontations and tactical fouls.&nbsp;

The most notable disciplinary incident of the first half occurred in the 39th minute when Atletico midfielder Cristian Romero tackled Jude Bellingham. A lengthy video assistant referee (VAR) review evaluated the challenge for a potential red card offense, but the on-field referee&#39;s initial yellow card decision stood firmly.&nbsp;

Jose Mourinho&rsquo;s Real Madrid side struggled to create clear-cut openings inside the penalty area, leaving the first half entirely scoreless. The complexion of the match turned decisively just seven minutes after the second-half restart. During a rapid Atletico counter-attack, forward Giuliano Simeone was pulled down inside the penalty box by Real Madrid central defender Dean Huijsen.&nbsp;

Following a brief VAR confirmation, the referee awarded a penalty kick to the home side and showed Huijsen a straight red card for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Spain international defender Alejandro Grimaldo converted the spot-kick in the 53rd minute, sending the opposing goalkeeper the wrong way to give the hosts a deserved lead.

Atletico capitalized on their numerical advantage just seven minutes later to double their cushion. Giuliano Simeone advanced down the right flank once more and delivered a precise cross into the center of the box. Canadian international striker Jonathan David escaped his defensive marker to volley the ball into the back of the net from close range, doubling the lead in the 59th minute.

Despite playing with ten men for the remainder of the half, Real Madrid altered their tactical approach to find a route back into the game. Mourinho introduced Portuguese playmaker Bernardo Silva from the substitute bench to add distribution from wide areas, which successfully helped the visitors reclaim territory.&nbsp;

In the 89th minute, Silva delivered a precise free-kick into the penalty area, and German defender Antonio R&uuml;diger directed a powerful header past Jan Oblak to pull a goal back. Atletico&rsquo;s experienced defense managed five minutes of intense stoppage time without conceding any further clear scoring opportunities to the opposition.&nbsp;

The final match whistle confirmed the three vital points, leaving Atletico Madrid five points behind league leaders Barcelona, while Real Madrid drops down into third place, one single point further back in the current league table.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid: Atletico Defeats Real Madrid 2-1

Barcelona secured a 3-1 victory over Sevilla in La Liga on Saturday, overcoming an early setback with a second-half surge led by Raphinha.

Sevilla started brightly at home and took the lead in the 19th minute through Youssouf Fofana. The midfielder&#39;s goal gave the hosts an early advantage and forced Barcelona to respond quickly.

The response came almost immediately. <a href="https://www.tapmad.com/blog/barcelona-defeat-racing-santandar-in-la-liga-2026/8106-5-0">Raphinha</a> levelled the contest in the 22nd minute, restoring Barcelona&#39;s momentum before the visitors went into the interval with the score tied at 1-1.

After the break, Barcelona gradually took control, with Raphinha becoming the decisive figure. He struck again in the 52nd minute to put Barcelona ahead, turning the game in the visitors&#39; favor. His third goal arrived in the 69th minute, completing a hat-trick and giving Barcelona a two-goal cushion.

Raphinha&#39;s performance was the defining feature of the match. His three goals transformed Barcelona&#39;s position from trailing early in the game to comfortably leading by the final stages. The hat-trick also highlighted his importance in Barcelona&#39;s attacking play, particularly when the team needed a direct response after conceding.

Sevilla were unable to produce another comeback of their own once Barcelona moved in front. The home side had created the opening breakthrough, but Barcelona&#39;s attacking pressure increased after halftime, eventually creating the decisive difference.

The result gives Barcelona another important victory in their La Liga campaign and underlines their ability to recover from difficult starts. Sevilla, meanwhile, will be left to reflect on a match in which an early lead ultimately slipped away due to some loose defending.
