Ireland T20 World Cup 2026 Squad Confirmed with Gaby Lewis Leading

DUBLIN: Ireland women's national cricket team have confirmed their Ireland 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales, with captain Gaby Lewis leading the side at the tournament for the first time.

The Ireland T20 World Cup 2026 Squad includes five players set for their first appearances at a Women’s T20 World Cup. Ava Canning, Christina Coulter Reilly, Alana Dalzell, Aimee Maguire and Lara McBride have all earned places in the final group following Ireland’s successful qualification campaign earlier this year.

Lewis enters the tournament after a strong run during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, where she finished as the leading run-scorer with 276 runs across seven matches. Ireland’s batting lineup will also rely on Amy Hunter, Leah Paul and Orla Prendergast, who remain key figures in the top order.

Experienced all-rounder Laura Delany has retained her place in the squad after captaining Ireland during the previous edition of the tournament in 2023. Delany is also approaching a milestone and could become the first Ireland Women’s player to complete 100 wickets in T20 internationals during the competition.

Ireland’s bowling attack will again feature Arlene Kelly, who impressed during the Global Qualifier and finished among the leading wicket-takers. She will be joined by Cara Murray, Georgina Dempsey and Louise Little in the pace and spin departments.

Placed in Group 2, Ireland will face hosts England women's national cricket team, New Zealand women's national cricket team, Sri Lanka women's national cricket team, Scotland women's national cricket team and West Indies women's national cricket team during the group stage.

Ireland open their campaign against Scotland at Old Trafford Cricket Ground on June 13 before taking on England and New Zealand at the Hampshire Bowl. Their remaining fixtures against Sri Lanka and West Indies will be played at the Bristol County Ground.
