India vs Zimbabwe 3rd T20: India Whitewashed Zimbabwe in T20I series

HARARE: A blistering maiden international half-century from teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi propelled India to defeat Zimbabwe by 35 runs in 3rd T20I, completing a comprehensive 3-0 series whitewash.

In India vs Zimbabwe 3rd T20, opting to bat first, the visitors posted a formidable 192 for 5. The total was heavily anchored by Sooryavanshi’s explosive 81 off just 49 balls. The 15-year-old opener took the Zimbabwean bowling attack to the cleaners, smacking eight crisp boundaries and four towering sixes all over the ground. 

After losing his opening partner early in the powerplay, Sooryavanshi found an able ally in the experienced Ishan Kishan, who contributed a steady 29 off 26 balls. The duo stabilized the innings before launching a brutal assault during the middle overs. A late-order cameo from designated finisher Rinku Singh, who remained unbeaten on a quick-fire 25 off 14 deliveries, ensured India finished with a distinct psychological advantage at the halfway mark. 

Seamer Brad Evans claimed 2 for 41, though the rest of the Zimbabwean attack struggled heavily against India's extensive batting depth and relentless scoring rate.

In reply, Zimbabwe's chase never truly found its rhythm against a highly disciplined and hostile Indian bowling unit. Express fast bowler Mayank Yadav broke the backbone of the hosts' batting lineup, registering impressive, match-winning figures of 3 for 29. Yadav’s raw extra pace and lethal hard lengths repeatedly forced critical errors from the Zimbabwean top order, leaving the home side reeling early in the powerplay.

Middle-order batter Ryan Burl provided a spirited and courageous lone fightback for the home crowd, waging a solitary war with a well-crafted 54 off 43 balls. Despite Burl's resilient half-century and brief moments of aggression, a complete lack of meaningful partnerships at the other end left Zimbabwe with a mountain too steep to climb. 

The hosts were eventually restricted to 157 for 7 in 20 overs, falling well short of the steep asking rate.

Sooryavanshi was deservedly named Player of the Match and Player of the T20I series for his match-winning batting masterclass. The strong performance seals an emphatic tour for a transitioning Indian side, showcasing immense bench strength and blooding young talent ahead of upcoming global assignments, while leaving Zimbabwe with plenty of tactical questions to answer regarding their top-order collapses.
