KARACHI: The Hyderabad Kingsmen posted a massive total of 244/6 in their 20 overs during the first innings of Match 39 in the 2026 Pakistan Super League at the National Stadium, Karachi.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Mohammad Rizwan’s Pindiz were immediately put on the defensive by an aggressive Hyderabad top order that refused to relent throughout the innings.
The tone was set by Maaz Sadaqat, who unleashed a whirlwind 28 off just 11 balls. Despite the early departure of captain Marnus Labuschagne for 5, the momentum never wavered. Usman Khan played the role of the primary aggressor in the first half, smashing 54 runs from 26 deliveries, including four massive sixes. His departure at the end of the Powerplay threatened a brief slump, but it only paved the way for a clinical middle-order partnership.
The highlight of the innings was a blistering cameo from Glenn Maxwell, who redefined the run rate with a spectacular 70 off 37 balls. Maxwell’s innings, featuring eight boundaries and three sixes, dismantled the Rawalpindi spinners and forced Rizwan to shuffle his bowling options frequently.
He was ably supported by Kusal Perera, who anchored the latter half with a well-composed 50 off 30 balls, ensuring the run rate stayed well above 12 per over.
Rawalpindiz's bowlers endured a difficult afternoon in the Karachi heat. Saad Masood was the only bowler to find semi-consistent success, finishing with 2/34, while Mohammad Amir proved expensive, conceding 57 runs in his four-over quota without a wicket.
Hyderabad now enters the second innings knowing they must defend this total by a margin of at least 85 runs to significantly boost their Net Run Rate and leapfrog Lahore Qalandars for the final playoff spot.
