Hyderabad Kingsmen vs Peshawar Zalmi Live: Kingsmen Collapse After Powerplay

Hyderabad Kingsmen vs Peshawar Zalmi Live: Kingsmen Collapse After Powerplay

LAHORE: Following a blistering start in the powerplay, the Hyderabad Kingsmen reached 90/9 after 10 overs, as Peshawar Zalmi’s spinners triggered a dramatic middle-over collapse in the HBL PSL 11 final at Gaddafi Stadium.

The Kingsmen appeared to be cruising at 56/2 after five overs, but the introduction of spin immediately after the powerplay shifted the momentum in Zalmi's favor. Sufiyan Muqeem proved to be the catalyst for Peshawar. Muqeem removed the dangerous Usman Khan, who struggled to find his rhythm before being caught for 8. In the same spell, the dangerous Kusal Perera got run out to leave the Kingsmen at 72/4.

The pressure mounted as Peshawar’s bowlers plugged the boundaries and stifled the scoring rate. Nahid Rana joined the act, utilizing his pace to rattle the lower middle order, leading to the quick wicket of Glenn Maxwell (0). Irfan Khan Niazi (1) also got run out in the same over. In the 10th over, Hassan Khan (12) also got out, leaving Kingsmen 90/7.

This flurry of wickets saw Hyderabad lose five batters for just 21 runs in a disastrous four-over window, completely derailing the platform set by their openers earlier in the evening.

Despite the carnage at the other end, Saim Ayub has remained the lone warrior for the Kingsmen. Ayub showed immense composure amidst the collapse, anchoring the innings with a steady 33 runs off 21 balls, including five boundaries and a towering six. He was joined by Hunain Shah.

With the run rate dipping to 9 after the mid-innings break, the Kingsmen face an uphill battle to post a competitive total. Peshawar Zalmi now firmly hold the upper hand as they look to wrap up the tail and keep the target within reach for their powerhouse batting lineup.
