Hyderabad Kingsmen Knock Out Multan Sultans to Book Eliminator 2 Clash with Islamabad United

Hyderabad Kingsmen defeated Multan Sultans in a one-sided contest to book a place in the Eliminator 2 of PSL 2026. Led by the brilliant partnership between Maaz Sadaqat and Usman Khan, Hyderabad Kingsmen displayed perfection in the second innings by chasing down the target inside 15.2 overs.

Batting first, Multan Sultans didn’t have a great start, as they lost both in-form openers early in the Powerplay. Sahibzada Farhan got out after scoring 15, while Steve Smith went back to the pavilion on just 13 runs. Losing both batters brought a huge pressure on Sultans, as they were expecting a strong start from the duo in this match.

The incoming Australian batter, Josh Philippe, also disappointed in today’s match, as Hunain Shah dismissed him quickly for just 6 runs. Shan Masood then brought some stability to the innings by batting sensibly, as Kingsmen failed to get his wicket during the middle overs.

Barring Shan Masood, no other batter in the middle order showcased any fight, as Hyderabad’s bowlers kept picking wickets one after another. Shan remained firm until the end, as his unbeaten 69 helped Multan Sultans to post 159 in the first innings.

When Hyderabad Kingsmen came out to bat, they started aggressively by hitting quick boundaries in the Powerplay. Even after losing the captain Marnus Labuschagne, they kept playing positively to put pressure on Multan Sultans. The partnership between Maaz Sadaqat and Usman Khan proved vital in this regard, as both youngsters played confidently to take the scoreboard forward.

After playing a blazing knock of 64 runs, Usman Khan went back to the pavilion in the 11th over. His dismissal didn’t put much pressure on Maaz Sadaqat, as he kept playing his natural game. Due to his unbeaten 64 off 33 balls, Hyderabad Kingsmen then sealed the chase inside 15.2 overs and won the match by 8 wickets. They are now ready to face Islamabad United in the Eliminator 2 of PSL 2026, which will be played on May 1 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
