Hurricanes vs Stars Knockout: Hurricanes Survive Rain Chaos in BBL 2026 Thriller

The Hobart Hurricanes and the Melbourne Stars faced off in the Big Bash League 2026 knockout, which was a rain-affected thriller. The Hurricanes withstood several disruptions and a revised target to eventually claim a victory by three runs under the DLS method. Their bowling and batting brought the crucial moments that kept their title hopes alive and defeated the Stars.

Persistent rain caused several stoppages, reducing the match to 10 overs per side. The Hurricanes batted first on a testing surface and gave 114 for 5. That was subsequently enough when the Stars had their pursuit reduced to seven overs, and an 85 DLS target was established.

The match began with a lot of pressure as Mitchell Owen was dismissed within the first over, followed by Tim Ward. Beau Webster stabilized the innings with a composed 47 out of 26 deliveries; three fours and three sixes at a rate of 180.76.

Ben McDermott and Nikhil Chaudhary also contributed positive runs, and Chaudhary made the innings faster by hitting 24 off 11 balls. The Hurricanes finished on 114 for 5, a run rate of 11.40. Haris Rauf got two wickets in the attack by the Stars, with Glenn Maxwell, Tom Curran, and Marcus Stoinis getting one each.

The rain returned during the innings break, however, during the innings break and reduced the Stars to seven overs in their run. The revised DLS target applied immediate pressure, and Thomas Rogers was dismissed cheaply. Joe Clarke continued the chase with 31 out of the 17 balls, and Sam Harper retired in frustration. Brief hope came from Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, and Hilton Cartwright, but frequent wickets halted the momentum.

Riley Meredith ended up 2 for 19, Mitchell Owen and Nikhil Chaudhary were close behind with the vital control. The Stars reached 81/4, three runs short of the target.

Beau Webster was named Player of the Match.
