Gujarat Titans outclassed Kolkata Knight Riders in a thrilling IPL contest, as Shubman Gill showcased his batting masterclass at Ahmedabad once again. His dominating knock of 86 proved vital for the Titans, as they defeated Knight Riders by 5 wickets in the latest IPL encounter.
Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders put up a solid total, as Cameron Green finally played a calculated knock to repay the management’s faith. His innings was crucial because KKR didn’t have a strong start and they were once again looking very sloppy in the Powerplay.
Cameron Green got things back on track by building a little partnership with Rovman Powell, who scored 27 off 20 in the first innings. After his dismissal, the middle order of Kolkata faltered badly, as no batter managed to put up a fight in front of a dominating Titans bowling attack.
The Australian allrounder held one end strongly, making sure to take the innings deep. He scored a brilliant 79 off 55 balls, allowing Kolkata Knight Riders to post 180 at the end of the first innings.
From the bowling perspective, Kagiso Rabada remained the key bowler for the Gujarat Titans, as he took 3 wickets while giving away just 29 runs.
Coming out to chase the target, Gujarat Titans started strongly, as both openers utilized the advantage of the Powerplay to score quickly. Sai Sudharsan then lost his wicket in the 6th over, however, Shubman Gill kept playing positively to take the chase forward.
His partnerships with Jos Buttler and Washington Sundar were crucial, giving Gujarat Titans a solid batting momentum in the second innings. Kolkata Knight Riders did manage to break them during the middle overs, but Titans held their nerves to take the game deep.
As a result, they sealed the chase in the last over of the match for the loss of 5 wickets. Shubman Gill was named Player of the Match, as his solid knock of 86 helped the Titans win another game at Ahmedabad.
