McGrath Names Bumrah, Hazlewood Top T20 Bowlers

Australian pace great Glenn McGrath has made his choice clear. In a recent interaction, he placed Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood at the top of the T20 ladder.

McGrath did not hesitate. He believes both quicks bring a rare Test-match discipline into a format built on risk. That control, he said, separates them from the rest.

Control That Breaks Batting Plans

Speaking about the pair, McGrath noted how Bumrah and Hazlewood stretch their spells, hit hard lengths, and refuse to offer freebies. In his words, they bowl “almost Test-match lengths in T20s” and still get results.

Look at the Jasprit Bumrah T20 record and the numbers back it up. Economy rates under pressure. Wickets at the death. He remains calm in chaos. That is not common in a format where margins disappear in a blink.

Hazlewood mirrors that method. He does not chase magic balls. He builds pressure and then strikes. Few saw this coming when T20 first exploded onto the scene. Back then, it was all about slower balls and yorker lotteries.

The praise from McGrath carries weight. His voice still echoes in dressing rooms. And when he speaks on fast bowling, players listen.

With global tournaments around the corner, the debate will rage. But for now, Glenn McGrath on T20 bowlers has drawn a clear line. Bumrah and Hazlewood sit at the summit.
