Pakistan captain Fatima Sana made history on Friday by scoring the fastest half-century in Women’s T20I cricket. She reached the milestone in the third T20I match against Zimbabwe, in which the green shirts registered a big victory by 133 runs.
Coming in to bat at No. 6 with Pakistan at 152/4, Fatima went after the Zimbabwe bowlers from the start. She hit eight fours and two sixes and brought up her fifty in just 15 balls.
As a result, the Pakistan skipper now holds the record for the quickest fifty in Women’s T20Is, overtaking Sophie Devine, Phoebe Litchfield, and Richa Ghosh, who were all previously tied at the top with 18-ball half-centuries.
Fatima’s record-breaking fifty, along with a steady half-century from young all-rounder Saira Jabeen, helped Pakistan post a huge total of 223 in the first innings of the recent T20I clash at Karachi. It was their second-highest score in T20Is, only behind the 237/5 they made against the same Zimbabwe side in the series opener.
Talking about the match, Pakistan Women once again showcased a dominating performance against Zimbabwe, as they won the game by 133 runs. By winning the latest encounter at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi, the green shirts also completed a clean sweep over Zimbabwe, who remained quite disappointing from the start of the series.
