Rain Washes Out First T20I After India Post 189

Rain Washes Out First T20I After India Post 189

The first T20I clash between England vs India has been called off due to consistent rain. The first innings of the match remained highly entertaining, as India posted 189 on the board. Unfortunately, England didn’t got the chance to bat in the second innings, as the rain came down hard to suspend the game for good.

Talking about the first innings, India got off to a bad start after England picked up two quick wickets in the Powerplay. Abhishek Sharma then produced a solid counterattack to push back the England bowling lineup. He scored a great fifty off just 24 balls before England removed him to take the control back.

The Indian batting lineup then faced a sudden collapse, however, Shreyas Iyer stood firm at one end to take the match deep. Due to his steady 68 off 47 balls, India managed to score 189 at the end of the first innings.

From the bowling perspective, Saqib Mahmood remained the star bowler for England by picking up 3 wickets. Besides him, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid also bowled well and took a wicket each to halt the Indian scoring rate during the middle overs.
