England Defeats Pakistan in 2nd Test: Ollie Robinson Stars as Hosts Seal Series at Lord’s

LORD'S: A clinical and ruthless display from England’s pace attack sealed a comprehensive 194-run victory over Pakistan on day four at Lord's, wrapping up the three-match series with a game to spare. 

Chasing a fourth-innings target of 389 runs, the visitors were bowled out for 194 despite a resilient, fighting half-century from Saud Shakeel. With this triumph, ENG defeats Pakistan in 2nd Test to secure an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

The foundation of the victory was laid on a dynamic opening two days. After England posted a competitive first-innings total of 290, anchored by a disciplined 61 from Jamie Smith and 55 from Jordan Cox, the English bowlers completely dismantled the Pakistani batting lineup. Ollie Robinson teared through the top order to finish with astonishing figures of 4 for 11. Backed by an incredibly quick spell from Jofra Archer, who claimed 3 for 26, England skittled Pakistan for 110. This handed the hosts a massive 180-run first-innings cushion.

Pakistan’s bowlers fought back fiercely in the second innings under gloomy conditions. Mohammad Abbas used his precision to exploit an up-and-down Lord's pitch, claiming 5 for 57 to register superb match figures of 9 for 130 and earn his place on the historic honors board. Despite his brilliant efforts, a gritty 54 from Dan Lawrence helped England grind out 208 runs, setting the final target at 389. 

Pakistan's uphill battle became even more severe with opener Imam-ul-Haq entirely ruled out of batting due to a left calf strain.Faced with a mountainous task on day four, Pakistan collapsed early against the new ball. 

Saud Shakeel single-handedly carried the resistance, executing elegant strokes across the ground to accumulate a valiant 97 off 122 balls. However, the English seamers remained unrelenting. Robinson mirrored his first-innings excellence to pick up another 4 for 24, while Josh Tongue ripped through the tail with 3 for 46. 

Once Shakeel fell just short of a well-deserved century, England quickly cleaned up the remaining wickets to trigger widespread celebrations. 

Robinson was rightfully named Player of the Match for his exceptional eight-wicket haul. Pakistan will now head to Birmingham searching for a consolation win, while a dominant England side eyes a clean sweep when the final Test commences at Edgbaston on September 9.
