ENG vs SL 2nd T20 Toss: England Win Toss and Bowl First

CARDIFF: England captain Harry Brook won the ENG vs SL 2nd T20 toss and elected to bowl first under heavy gray skies at Sophia Gardens. Following a 119-run victory in the 1st T20 at Southampton, the hosts elected to exploit the bowling-friendly atmospheric conditions in Wales, aiming to wrap up the three-match bilateral series with a game to spare.

The overhead conditions heavily influenced Brook's tactical decision at the toss. Persistent light rain ahead of play forced the ground staff to employ the hover cover. With moisture trapped under the covers and a damp outfield, England’s management opted to unleash their elite seam attack early. 

The decision provides immediate assistance to the returning speedster Jofra Archer, who was rested during the first match but has been drafted back into the playing XI to partner with Adil Rashid and Sonny Baker.

For Sri Lanka, captain Charith Asalanka admitted he would have also preferred to bowl first given the lively green tinge on the Cardiff surface. Trailing 1-0 in the series, the visitors face a daunting task as they search for visual rhythms to counter a lethal English top order. 

Sri Lanka's opening batsmen, Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Udara, must successfully negotiate the tricky initial overs against a moving white ball if they are to post a competitive total. All eyes now turn to how the Sri Lankan top order manages the testing early moisture in this 2nd T20 clash.
