Delhi Capitals stunned Lucknow Super Giants in the latest IPL clash, as Sameer Rizvi played a superb knock under pressure to seal the chase. He was well supported by Tristan Stubbs at the other end, who showcased his international experience while chasing a low target.
Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants didn’t have a great start, as they lost their captain Rishabh Pant in the Powerplay. The incoming batter Aiden Markram also disappointed badly, as he lost his wicket after scoring just 11 runs. Meanwhile, the opener Mitchell Marsh kept playing positively from the other end, showcasing his intent to score quickly in the first six overs.
The middle order of LSG also produced a poor batting performance, as Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran failed to produce any counterpunch. Due to these quick wickets, Marsh also felt the pressure and eventually got dismissed after scoring 35 off 28 balls.
The lower middle order comprising Abdul Samad, Mukul Choudhary and Shahbaz Ahmed then showcased some fight to take the scoreboard forward. They were looking good to score big runs towards the end, however, a sharp spell from the DC bowlers disrupted all their plans. As a result, Lucknow Super Giants were skittled for just 141, with Abdul Samad finishing as the highest run-scorer of the innings.
When Delhi Capitals came out to bat, they endured a poor start, as Mohammad Shami, Mohsin Khan and Prince Yadav removed the top order quickly in the Powerplay. This created plenty of pressure on the DC batting lineup, but the incoming Sameer Rizvi showcased his class to calm the nerves. He played a superb knock in the middle, helping the chase of the Capitals to come back on track.
Sameer was well supported by the experienced Tristan Stubbs, who played smartly during the middle overs to take the team out of trouble. Due to their remarkable partnership, Delhi Capitals made a strong comeback in the match without allowing LSG to find more breakthroughs.
The duo then took DC towards the finish line, as Sameer Rizvi starred with an unbeaten 70 runs. His stunning knock allowed the team to win the match by 6 wickets, as LSG left disappointed in front of the home fans.
