Karachi Kings captain David Warner hailed the efforts of the entire team after they defeated Lahore Qalandars in a nail-biting finish. Warner admitted that the victory didn’t come easily, as everyone had to work hard to outclass the Qalandars on their home turf.
Despite being a low scoring game, the match between Karachi Kings vs Lahore Qalandars went down to the wire. The Kings held their nerves in the last over, as they knew the Qalandars were under pressure due to a ball-tampering penalty. They chased down the target of 129 on the third ball of the final over, securing back-to-back wins in the last two PSL matches.
“We did it the hard way. As you just said, Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled absolutely outstanding. A great spell, four wickets. But look, it was a bit tighter than I would like. But it’s good to have two wins from two,” said Karachi Kings captain David Warner.
Speaking about the intensity of the Karachi vs Lahore PSL clash, Warner said that it was a perfect game that showcased the cricketing rivalry of the two biggest cities in Pakistan.
“It’s a great game for the tournament, actually, Lahore versus Karachi on a Sunday night. We absolutely loved it,” said David Warner.
Warner then praised the bowling effort of his team for dismantling Lahore Qalandars on a low score. He said spinners and pacers bowled in tandem to create pressure that worked well for them in the end.
“Our spinners bowled fantastically in tandem. And I think [pacers] [Mir] Hamza and Hasan [Ali] were fantastic as well. Us squeezing in the middle and bowling in partnerships, which is really helping us at the moment. I think the spinners are licking their lips,” said David Warner.
He further highlighted the importance of adjusting the game plan according to the nature of the surface, saying it was key for them to win the match against the in-form Lahore Qalandars.
“As batsmen, you can take a few balls to adjust and adapt. It is what it is; it’s the nature of the beast when you’re playing at two venues. Credit to the curators for preparing surfaces like this and for us to come out and play,” said David Warner.
