Blessing Muzarabani Pulls Out of PSL 11 to Join Kolkata Knight Riders

Blessing Muzarabani Pulls Out of PSL 11 to Join Kolkata Knight Riders

Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has officially withdrawn from the upcoming Pakistan Super League 2026, opting to take up a high-profile opportunity with Kolkata Knight Riders. He was initially expected to represent Islamabad United but informed the franchise of his decision after KKR confirmed his signing on Friday. This move marks a notable Blessing Muzarabani PSL 11 withdrawal.

The 29-year-old Zimbabwean fills the vacancy left by Bangladesh left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman, who was released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in December. Mustafizur has now joined Lahore Qalandars for the PSL, which begins on March 26, two days before the IPL season starts.

Previous PSL Contracts and IPL Conflict

Muzarabani had previously won a PSL title with Multan Sultans and went unsold during the initial PSL auction on February 11. Islamabad United later signed him directly after parting ways with West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph.

This marks the second year a PSL-signed player has opted to join an IPL side instead. Last season, South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch left Peshawar Zalmi to join Mumbai Indians, resulting in a one-season PSL ban. It remains unclear if similar action will be taken against Muzarabani.

Stellar T20 World Cup Form

Muzarabani arrives at KKR following an outstanding T20 World Cup campaign. He took 13 wickets in six matches, just one short of the joint-leading wicket-taker, helping Zimbabwe top their group and reach the Super Eight stage. His performance included a match-turning four-wicket haul against Australia in the group stage.

Muzarabani’s decision to prioritize the IPL emphasizes the growing allure of India’s premier T20 league and the ongoing scheduling conflict with the PSL, making his Muzarabani Kolkata Knight Riders IPL signing a headline-grabbing move.
