BCCI Announces ₹131 Crore Reward for India After Historic T20 World Cup 2026 Triumph

Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced a ₹131 crore reward for the victorious India national cricket team after their remarkable campaign in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The prize money will be distributed among players, support staff, and the national selection panel following the historic title win.

India defeated the New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs in the final held in Ahmedabad. The win not only secured India’s third T20 World Cup trophy but also marked the first time a host nation successfully defended the title. The team’s commanding performance in the final set multiple records and highlighted their dominance in the format.

Officials from the board praised the squad’s consistency and depth, describing the victory as a reflection of India’s strong cricketing ecosystem.

India’s Top Order Powers Historic Final

India’s victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final was anchored by a sensational batting display from the top order.

Contributions from Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan helped India post 255/5, the highest total ever in a T20 World Cup final.

The aggressive start immediately put New Zealand under pressure. Analysts noted that the visiting team’s decision to omit a specialist off-spinner allowed India to dominate the early overs.

By the eighth over, the momentum was clearly in India’s favour. With such a massive total on the board, India’s bowlers had a comfortable platform to defend and delivered with precision.

Bowlers Seal Victory and Nationwide Celebrations

India’s bowling attack, led by Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah, ensured New Zealand’s chase never gained traction, securing a comprehensive 96-run win.

The triumph sparked celebrations across the country, with fans in cities like Nagpur and Ahmedabad taking to the streets, waving flags, dancing, and lighting firecrackers.

Thousands stayed back in the stadium to witness the team’s victory lap. Head coach Gautam Gambhir dedicated the win to Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman, praising the foundation they built.

He also lauded captain Suryakumar Yadav for his calm leadership. Mitchell Santner, New Zealand’s captain, recognized India’s superior performance and their ability to handle the pressure of a home final, highlighting the champions’ mental strength.
