Barcelona to Increase Offer for Julian Alvarez After Atletico Reject Mega Opening Bid

FC Barcelona are continuing talks with Atlético Madrid over a possible move for Julian Alvarez after their opening proposal for the Argentina forward was rejected.

The Catalan club had initially submitted a €100 million offer for Alvarez, but Atletico turned it down as they value the striker at a significantly higher amount. Barcelona, however, remain determined to pursue the deal and are now preparing a new package worth around €135 million, including add-ons.

Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, with Barcelona sporting director Deco involved in discussions alongside Atletico officials and the player’s representatives. Barcelona are aiming to reach an agreement before the start of the upcoming international tournament period.

The Spanish champions consider Alvarez one of their priority targets in the transfer market and are understood to be pushing for a breakthrough in talks. Reports in Spain suggest the player has already indicated his willingness to join Barcelona if the clubs can agree on a transfer fee.

Personal terms are not expected to present difficulties, with discussions between Barcelona and the player’s camp progressing positively in recent weeks.

Barcelona’s revised proposal is expected to include variable payments and performance-related clauses in an effort to narrow the valuation gap between the two clubs. The improved structure is viewed as an attempt to restart negotiations after Atletico rejected the original bid outright.

Atletico Madrid are still reluctant to part ways with Alvarez, who remains an important figure in their attacking plans. However, Barcelona believe the player’s interest in the move could help advance negotiations during the coming days.

The clubs remain in contact as Barcelona continue efforts to complete one of the most closely watched transfer pursuits of the summer window.
