Bangladesh Squad Against Australia Announced as Mosaddek Hossain Earns Recall
The Bangladesh squad against Australia for the opening two matches of the upcoming ODI series has been confirmed, with all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain earning a return to the national setup after an extended absence.
The 15-player group announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board will take on Australia in the first two fixtures of a three-match series in Dhaka, where all ODI matches are scheduled to be played this month. Bangladesh enter the series on the back of a successful home campaign against New Zealand and have largely retained the core of that squad.
Mosaddek's inclusion marks his first ODI call-up in several years, while wicketkeeper-batter Quazi Nurul Hasan has also returned to the squad after missing Bangladesh's most recent ODI assignment. Their selections come at the expense of Afif Hossain and Mahidul Islam Ankon, who have dropped out of the group.
The announcement indicates continued faith in captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who will lead a side that remains largely unchanged following the series victory over New Zealand earlier this year. The selectors have opted for stability, keeping most of the players who featured in that triumph.
Bangladesh's batting resources include Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tawhid Hridoy and Litton Das, while the pace attack will again rely on Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana. Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain and left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam have also retained their places.
The Bangladesh ODI squad against Australia announced on Wednesday covers only the first two matches of the series, with the board expected to finalise plans for the remainder of the white-ball contests later in the month.
Following the ODI leg, the two sides will switch formats for a three-match T20I series in Chattogram. Those matches are scheduled to begin on June 17 and conclude on June 21.
