Babar Azam’s second outing in the Big Bash League ended in frustration once again, with the star batter unable to turn promise into substance. Playing at the SCG, Babar managed 9 off 10 balls before edging Luke Wood to Matt Short, cutting short another innings fans hoped would go longer.

He began with caution, picking his moments and keeping the scoreboard moving. A well-timed boundary briefly lifted expectations, but Adelaide’s bowlers stayed disciplined. Wood found just enough movement, and Babar’s attempted push brought his downfall. The dismissal left Sydney Sixers searching for momentum early.

The disappointment follows a tough debut in Perth, where Babar was dismissed for 2 off 5 balls in the opening match of BBL 2025. Two games in, the returns remain slim, and pressure is starting to build.

Sixers invested heavily in Babar’s presence, both on and off the field. The tournament, however, shows little patience, and the coming games will reveal how this BBL chapter unfolds for Babar Azam.
