Ellis and Zampa Lead Australia to Convincing Win Over Ireland

Ellis and Zampa Lead Australia to Convincing Win Over Ireland

Australia’s disciplined bowling, led by Ellis and Zampa, secured a comprehensive T20 victory, highlighting their strength in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Chasing 183, Ireland’s innings started badly as captain Paul Stirling retired hurt after facing just one ball. Early dismissals of Harry Tector and Ross Adair left the team at 13/2 within the first three overs. Curtis Campher and Ben Calitz also fell cheaply, leaving Ireland struggling at 40/4 by the end of the powerplay.

Lorcan Tucker scored 24 off 27 balls, while George Dockrell fought valiantly with 41 off 29, hitting three fours and two sixes. Despite their efforts, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

Australia’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. Nathan Ellis claimed 4/12 in 3.5 overs, while Adam Zampa matched him with 4/23 in four overs. Matthew Kuhnemann, Xavier Bartlett, and Cooper Connolly also bowled tightly, ensuring Ireland were dismissed well short of the target.

Player of the Match: Nathan Ellis (AUS) – 4/12
