Zampa’s 4-Wicket Spell Crushes Oman to 104 in Kandy: Aus vs Oma

Zampa’s 4-Wicket Spell Crushes Oman to 104 in Kandy: Aus vs Oma

In a clinical display of leg-spin bowling, Adam Zampa steered the Australian attack to bowl out Oman for a meager 104 in just 16.2 overs. Choosing to bowl first on a fresh Pallekele track, Mitchell Marsh saw his bowlers respond immediately.

Xavier Bartlett set the tone by removing Aamir Kaleem for a golden duck on the very first delivery of the match. While Oman attempted to fight back through Captain Jatinder Singh and Wasim Ali, the Australian pressure remained relentless.

Powerplay Dominance and Early Breakthroughs

The Australia vs Oman encounter began with a flurry of wickets. Oman managed 47 runs in the mandatory Powerplay but lost three vital batters in the process. Jatinder Singh showed intent with 17 runs off 15 balls, but Bartlett returned to claim his second victim.

Nathan Ellis joined the party shortly after, bowling Karan Sonavale for 12, leaving Oman struggling to build a sustainable platform against the moving ball.

Adam Zampa Disarms Oman with Elite Four-Wicket Spell

The middle overs were defined by a spinning masterclass from Adam Zampa, who dismantled the opposition with an elite Adam Zampa 4 wickets haul. Zampa disrupted the middle order before cleaning up the tail with two consecutive wickets, finishing with clinical figures of 4 for 21. Supporting him, Glenn Maxwell claimed 2 for 13, including the top-scorer Wasim Ali (32).

Despite an early tournament exit, Mitchell Marsh noted, “But today is a World Cup match for Australia, and we certainly want to finish with a win.” His bowlers delivered perfectly on that promise.

Meanwhile, Oman’s Jatinder Singh viewed the experience as vital, stating, “Well, I think this tournament has been a learning curve in our careers... boys will take a lot of things, a lot of positives from the tournament, and we will bounce back a lot stronger.”
