Salman Ali Agha, Suryakumar Yadav Headlines Asia Cup Press Meet

The captains of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Oman, UAE, and Hong Kong came together in a joint press conference after the trophy revealing ceremony on Tuesday ahead of the Asia Cup 2025. As expected, most of the attention was on India’s Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha. But it was the closing moments that caught everyone’s eye.

As soon as the Q&A was over, Salman walked off the stage without pausing to stop for the usual handshakes and pictures. The live stream showed, Pakistan skipper heading straight for the exit while Suryakumar stayed back greeting the other captains including Afghanistan's Rashid Khan.

Not long after, another video appeared showing that Salman had in fact shaken hands with the captains before leaving, even sharing a brief handshake with Suryakumar near the exit.

On the topic of aggression in the high-voltage India vs Pakistan clash, Suryakumar said aggression is always present on the field and necessary to win. Salman, however, made it clear he wants his players to follow their instincts, saying aggression is especially important for fast bowlers.

Both captains also spoke about preparations. Suryakumar said India had put in strong practice sessions, while Salman stressed that in T20 cricket there are no favourites, with matches often decided by a few overs.

With the press conference all over, the stage is set. The two biggest rivals in Asian cricket will soon meet and the build up is full of intrigue already.
