Arsenal Finally Lift Premier League Trophy After 22 Years

Arsenal Finally Lift Premier League Trophy After 22 Years

Arsenal finally got their hands on the trophy. After years of chasing Manchester City and watching title races slip away, the moment arrived in south London on Sunday afternoon.

The champions beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park before lifting the Premier League trophy in front of thousands of travelling supporters. Red confetti burst into the air, champagne sprayed across the pitch and Martin Odegaard stood at the centre of it all holding the silverware high above his head.

For Arsenal fans, this was the scene they had waited more than two decades to witness again.

The title had already been secured earlier in the week after Manchester City dropped points against Bournemouth, but this was the real celebration. The first match since becoming champions. The first chance for players and supporters to enjoy it together.

Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring late in the first half after Arsenal controlled most of the game. The Brazilian had already missed two good chances before finally beating Dean Henderson with a low strike at the near post.

You could feel the relief around the away section the second that ball crossed the line.

Crystal Palace tried to respond but Arsenal looked sharp despite Mikel Arteta rotating several key names ahead of the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain later this week.

Noni Madueke added Arsenal’s second goal early in the second half after another dangerous set piece. Kai Havertz headed the ball back across goal and Madueke fired a close-range volley past Dean Henderson. That shot had the crowd on its feet.

Jean-Philippe Mateta pulled one back in the closing minutes with a late header, though by then the result barely mattered. Palace supporters stayed loud. Arsenal fans were already preparing for the trophy ceremony.

Trophy Celebration Takes Over Selhurst Park

The biggest moment arrived after the final whistle.

Players gathered near the stand packed with Arsenal supporters while medals were handed out one by one. Arteta received a huge roar from the travelling fans before Odegaard stepped forward to lift the trophy.

Fans pulled out their phones as the celebrations began, with many climbing onto seats to capture the moment. Fireworks lit up the stadium while Arsenal players celebrated on the pitch, and Arteta was tossed into the air by his squad as Stan Kroenke and Josh Kroenke joined the trophy presentation.

The noise inside Selhurst Park barely dropped for nearly an hour.

The victory also capped a strong finish to the league campaign. Since losing to Manchester City in April, Arsenal have won five straight league matches to end the season seven points clear at the top.

That one run changed everything.

Another major moment came with Max Dowman’s start for Arsenal. At 16 years and 144 days old, he became the youngest player ever to start a Premier League match. The midfielder settled quickly and almost created an early chance inside the opening minutes.

Arsenal now turn their focus to the Champions League final against PSG in Budapest on May 30. Arteta has already delivered the club’s first league title in 22 years, but European success would make this season even more memorable.
