Afghanistan hammered Zimbabwe in the T20I series opener at Harare. They showcased complete dominance over the home team, which looked completely out of form in the first game. Both teams will now meet in the 2nd T20I at the same venue on October 31. Zimbabwe will try to make a comeback in the series by countering the spin threat of Afghanistan. It would definitely be a tough ask, however, Zimbabwe is capable of doing that by utilizing the experience of Sikandar Raza and Brendan Taylor in middle order batting.
As far as Afghanistan is concerned, they will try to dominate the 2nd T20I by playing with the same intensity. Their opening batting performed superbly in the last game, so they will need to fire again in the next match, which will be played at the same venue. Some fixes are needed in the middle order, as players like Darwish Rasooli and Rashid Khan need to find form in the upcoming match.
In this article, we will analyze the squads of both teams that will feature in the next game of the series. It will give you an idea about the players that are likely to play for both teams in the upcoming match at Harare. Afghanistan is likely to field the same lineup, however, Zimbabwe can come in with one or two changes to the squad.
Afghanistan has a settled lineup of T20 stars, ready to fire in the next game against Zimbabwe. Their opening duo, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, usually form the base of batting, so they will definitely feature in the second game at Harare. Sediqullah Atal is also looking in good touch, so he will retain his position at number 3 in the batting lineup.
There is room for changes in the middle order batting, as Zimbabwe exploited this area in the first game of the series. Darwish Rasooli can be replaced by Sharafuddin Ashraf in the middle order, as the latter provides an extended leverage with bowling as well. The final decision would be taken after evaluating the surface properly, as Harare could produce a slow turner in the next match.
Zimbabwe needs to find answers in batting before the start of the next match. They were quite poor in the last game, as Afghanistan exploited their weaknesses accurately during the middle overs. The home team, therefore, needs a solid fix in the middle order batting. They cannot just rely on Sikandar Raza to anchor the innings. Though he is a solid batter, he still needs a partnership from the other end to keep the scoreboard ticking.
In the bowling department, we can expect a few changes as well. Wellington Masakadza can come in place of Tony Munyonga, as he provides a specialist strike option during the middle overs. Similarly, Graeme Cremer can also replace Tashinga Musekiwa, as his leg break bowling can prove vital for the home team in the second game.

The second game of the series will test the quality and temperament of the Zimbabwe team. They are currently under pressure after getting a thrashing in the last game, so making a comeback in the next one won’t be easy. However, with the likes of Sikandar Raza and Brendan Taylor in the lineup, they can pose a serious challenge to the Afghan team in the next match.
From the Afghanistan perspective, they will look to dominate the next game from the start of the play. They will once again need their star players to perform strongly in the Powerplay, as winning that will give them an edge over the struggling Zimbabwe team.
