West Indies reached 158/4 after 50.1 overs in the second Test against Bangladesh at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on November 5. Amir Jangoo remained unbeaten on 70, while Kevin Wickham contributed 61 to steady the innings after an early collapse.

West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first in the second and final Test of the series. However, Bangladesh made an excellent start with the ball, reducing the hosts to 27/3 inside the first nine overs.

Taskin Ahmed dismissed Brandon King for 9 and Joshua Da Silva for 12, while Hasan Mahmud removed Kavem Hodge for just one run. The early wickets put Bangladesh in control during the opening session.

Kevin Wickham and Amir Jangoo then led the recovery with a crucial fourth-wicket partnership. Wickham scored 61 off 145 balls, hitting five boundaries before Hasan Mahmud ended his innings at 158/4.

Jangoo continued to hold the innings together, reaching 70 not out from 114 deliveries, including six fours and one six. Hasan Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed picked up two wickets each for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh will look to take the remaining wickets quickly and restrict West Indies to a manageable first-innings total. Meanwhile, the hosts will aim to build on Jangoo's innings and establish a competitive score.

West Indies lead the two-match series 1-0 and are looking to secure a series victory. Bangladesh need a strong performance in this Test to level the series.

West Indies vs Bangladesh 2nd Test Day 1 Live on tapmad

Bangladesh return to action against West Indies on November 5, knowing that anything less than a strong performance could leave them facing another disappointing home series defeat. The visitors have already taken a 1-0 lead after winning the opening Test by eight wickets in Mirpur.

For the hosts, the challenge starts with the batting department. Their first innings in Mirpur showed that they could compete, but the second innings exposed problems that West Indies will be keen to exploit again.

You can watch Bangladesh vs West Indies live on tapmad as the second and final Test takes place at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from November 5 to 9. Play starts at 8:30 AM Pakistan Standard Time, with live coverage, match highlights and updates available on tapmad.

Bangladesh Need a Stronger Batting Performance

Bangladesh need a better batting display after their second-innings collapse in Mirpur. Shadman Islam scored 105 in the first innings, with Towhid Hridoy adding 42 and Litton Das remaining unbeaten on 34. However, the hosts managed only 142 in their second innings.

Nayeem Hasan scored 52, but Roston Chase took five wickets for 36 runs and Jomel Warrican claimed four for 63. Bangladesh need stronger partnerships in Sylhet to avoid another collapse.

Mushfiqur Rahim's return adds experience to the batting lineup, while Amite Hasan joins the squad after scoring an unbeaten 201 in the National Cricket League.

West Indies Look to Seal the Series

West Indies dominated the key moments in Mirpur and will aim to carry that form into the second Test. Jomel Warrican took nine wickets in the match, while Roston Chase also troubled Bangladesh's batters with his off-spin.

Brandon King led the chase with an unbeaten 81 from 115 balls. John Campbell scored 49, and their 112-run opening partnership put West Indies in control.

Captain Roston Chase will look for another disciplined performance from his side. A draw would be enough for West Indies to win the two-match series, but they will be aiming to complete a 2-0 sweep.

Sylhet Pitch Could Bring Pace Bowlers Into Play

The Sylhet pitch could offer different conditions from Mirpur. Early preparations suggested some grass on the surface, which may give fast bowlers help in the opening sessions.

Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam and Ebadot Hossain will lead Bangladesh's pace attack. Their main task will be to take early wickets and put pressure on the West Indies top order.

Taijul Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nayeem Hasan will handle the spin attack. Bangladesh need a stronger performance from their bowlers after Warrican and Chase dominated with the ball in the first Test.

West Indies also have pace options in Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales and Kemar Roach. If the surface offers early movement, their fast bowlers could make life difficult for Bangladesh's batters.

Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd Test Preview, Squads and Streaming Guide

West Indies beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the first Test in Mirpur on Saturday and now lead the two-match series 1-0. The win came on day four. Brandon King was the hero with a career-best 81 not out.

Bangladesh were all out for 142 in their second innings, which left West Indies needing 170. King made 81 off 115 balls with 10 fours and a six, and the visitors got there in 35.1 overs.

Two spinners did most of the damage with the ball. Jomel Warrican took 4-63 in the second innings after taking five wickets in the first, and he was named player of the match. Captain Roston Chase took 5-36, the fifth time he has taken five wickets in a Test innings.

Bangladesh started the day on 79-6, 106 runs ahead, and needed a good start. They did not get it. Jaker Ali edged Warrican to slip and Chase took the catch. Jaker made 22 off 34 balls, which made him the second-highest scorer in the innings.

Nayeem Hasan kept Bangladesh alive for a while. Chase’s bowling had him dropped twice, on 21 and 29. Taijul Islam added eight in a 17-run stand with him before Chase got Taijul out, and Bangladesh were 127-9. Nayeem then scored his first Test fifty, reaching it off 87 balls. Soon after, he tried to hit Chase over long-on and was caught by Joshua Bishop. He made 52 off 91 balls. Shoriful Islam finished not out on seven.

In the chase, King and John Campbell attacked from the first over and took West Indies to 64 without loss in 14.1 overs. Then rain stopped play. After about an hour, they added 23 more runs before bad light and lightning caused another 45-minute break.

King was dropped on 70 by substitute fielder Ebadot Hossain off Taijul, and Bangladesh paid for it as he stayed to the end. Campbell missed a fifty by one run. Shoriful bowled him for 49 off 55 balls, with six fours and a six.

The second Test starts in Sylhet on November 5.

West Indies beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the first Test in Mirpur. Brandon King hit a career-best 81 not out to lead the chase.

West Indies Beat Bangladesh by Eight Wickets as King Hits 81*

DHAKA: Bangladesh ended the opening day of the first Test against West Indies in a strong position at 213/3, with Shadman Islam remaining unbeaten on 99 when bad light forced an early close at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

After choosing to bat first, Bangladesh navigated a challenging opening spell from the West Indies pacers before Shadman took charge of the innings. The left-hander struck 10 boundaries in a patient 219-ball knock, while Litton Das was 10 not out at stumps.

The visitors made an early breakthrough through Jayden Seales, who dismissed Tanzid Hasan for seven after the opener edged a delivery to the slips. Shadman and Mominul Haque then rebuilt the innings with a 59-run partnership before Jomel Warrican removed Mominul for 28.

West Indies captain Roston Chase strengthened his side's position after the lunch interval by successfully reviewing an lbw decision against Najmul Hossain Shanto (19).

Shadman continued to anchor the innings and brought up his 10th Test half-century with a single off Seales in the 35th over. He subsequently combined with Towhid Hridoy, who contributed an attacking 42 before severe cramps forced him to leave the field on a stretcher.

Shadman remained composed as he moved closer to his third Test century, but interruptions caused by fading light denied him the opportunity to reach the milestone before stumps.

Warrican finished the day as West Indies' leading wicket-taker with figures of 2/33, while Bangladesh will resume on the second morning with seven wickets remaining and Shadman just one run away from a hundred.

BAN vs WI 1st Test Day 1 highlights: Shadman Islam fell one run short of a century before bad light ended play, leaving Bangladesh 213/3.

BAN vs WI 1st Test Day 1 Highlights: Shadman 99*

DHAKA: Left-handed opener Shadman Islam anchored the hosts with a disciplined performance, though he was left agonizingly stranded one run short of a milestone when bad light brought an early end to BAN vs WI 1st Test Day 1 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh closed the day at 213/3 after 74 overs, with Shadman unbeaten on 99 alongside a returning Litton Das (10*).

The morning session presented testing conditions as the West Indies new-ball attack, spearheaded by Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales, extracted variable bounce and probing seam movement. Seales delivered the initial breakthrough by tempting Tanzid Hasan (7) into a loose drive, resulting in a clean edge to the slip cordon.

Unfazed by the early loss, Shadman displayed exemplary leave-awareness outside the off-stump, partnering with veteran Mominul Haque to steady the ship. The duo shared a vital 59-run second-wicket stand, absorbing the pressure before left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican broke through. Mominul tossed away his start for 28, slicing a Warrican delivery straight to mid-off.

West Indies fought back post-lunch when Caribbean skipper Roston Chase successfully reviewed an lbw decision against Najmul Hossain Shanto, removing the Bangladesh captain for 19 as he attempted a paddle sweep off Warrican.

Despite the wickets tumbling around him, Shadman stood firm, selectively punishing loose deliveries to celebrate Shadman Islam's half-century, his 10th in Test cricket, reached via a single off Seales in the 35th over.

He found an energetic ally in Towhid Hridoy. Playing with intent, Hridoy added a brisk 42 before severe cramps in the stifling Dhaka humidity forced him to be stretchered off the field, cutting short an otherwise seamless 88-run partnership.

As the afternoon progressed, Shadman accelerated toward triple figures, hitting 10 boundaries during his 219-ball stay. However, nature intervened just as history beckoned. A fading evening sky prompted the umpires to halt play twice during the final session.

When stumps were officially drawn, Shadman was left on a nerve-wracking 99*, forced to wait until Day 2 to secure his third Test hundred. For the visitors, Warrican was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/33, leaving the match finely poised ahead of the second morning.

Shadman Islam's half-century turned into a heroic 99* as Bangladesh reached 213/3 against West Indies before bad light halted BAN vs WI 1st Test Day 1.

BAN vs WI 1st Test Day 1: Shadman Islam Left Stranded on 99*

Bangladesh reached 149/3 after 50.5 overs against West Indies on Day 1 of the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday. Shadman Islam led the home side's recovery with an unbeaten 66, while Towhid Hridoy remained at the crease on 23.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat, but West Indies made an early breakthrough when Jayden Seales dismissed Tanzid Hasan for seven. The opener faced 23 balls before falling caught by Justin Greaves, leaving the hosts at 9/1 in 6.4 overs.

Mominul Haque then helped steady the innings with 28 from 51 deliveries. He struck two fours before Shamar Joseph took the catch off Jomel Warrican's bowling, ending the second-wicket partnership with Bangladesh at 68/2.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto added 19 from 42 balls, including one boundary. Warrican struck again, trapping the Bangladesh skipper lbw in the 36th over to reduce the hosts to 110/3.

Shadman Islam anchors Bangladesh innings

Shadman has been the mainstay of the innings, facing 141 balls and hitting six fours without a six. His unbeaten 66 has kept Bangladesh moving despite the loss of three wickets.

Hridoy has offered support at the other end, scoring 23 off 49 deliveries with two boundaries. The pair will look to build a substantial partnership and give Bangladesh a stronger platform for the remainder of the opening day.

For West Indies, Warrican has taken two wickets for 28 runs in 11 overs, while Seales has claimed one wicket and conceded just 14 runs in eight overs. The visitors have also kept the scoring rate under control, with Justin Greaves returning figures of 0/20 from 8.5 overs.

The latest Ban vs WI test score puts Bangladesh at 149/3, with seven wickets still available. Litton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, Taijul Islam, Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam are yet to bat.

What happens next?

Bangladesh will aim to turn their steady start into a sizeable first-innings total, while West Indies need another wicket to prevent Shadman and Hridoy from building a lengthy partnership.

The live win probability currently gives Bangladesh a 59% chance, compared with 22% for West Indies and 19% for a draw. These figures are estimates rather than a prediction of the final result.

Tanzid faced 23 balls before falling at 9/1 in 6.4 overs. Justin Greaves took the catch, giving Seales the first wicket of the match.

The dismissal put early pressure on Bangladesh, who had opted to bat on their home ground. However, Shadman and Mominul avoided further damage before the first interval.

Seales had figures of 1/10 from five overs at the drinks break, including two maiden overs. Shamar Joseph also bowled five overs, conceding seven runs without taking a wicket.

Roston Chase had conceded 11 runs from two overs, while Greaves gave away four runs in his opening over.

Bangladesh vs West Indies Live Score

The first Test is scheduled to run from October 28 to November 1. With the opening session still in progress, Bangladesh will look to build a stronger partnership and avoid another early wicket.

West Indies, meanwhile, will want Seales and the rest of the bowling attack to maintain their discipline and create further chances.

At the drinks break, Bangladesh had the slight advantage of having two established batters at the crease, but the innings remained in its early stages. The next passage of play will be important as both sides look to establish control on Day 1.

Bangladesh vs West Indies Live Score as Hosts Lose Early Wicket

Phil Simmons has dismissed suggestions that Bangladesh are facing internal problems ahead of their home Test series against West Indies. His comments came after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) moved Mohammad Ashraful out of the batting coach role in the week before the series.

The board confirmed the change on Saturday and appointed Mohammad Salahuddin as the temporary batting coach. Bangladesh have had a difficult run recently, drawing their only Test against Afghanistan in the UAE before losing to both Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in the ODI tri-series.

Ashraful’s removal has led to questions about whether the board acted because of those results. However, reports also suggest the BCB is nearing an agreement with another batting coach, who could join the team before their tour of South Africa.

"Is this the first time there's chaos before a match?" Simmons replied when asked about the environment of the dressing room ahead of the WI Test series.

"Every series is important. Those that we played earlier in the year were important too. But the thing is how we go about our preparation for the series.” said Phil Simmons.

“I think that the group that was here has been excellent in the last three or four days. They've been doing their work and now the whole team joins together. It's what we do over the next two days, it's not what's happening outside, it's what we do as a team to prepare." added Phil Simmons.

Simmons further said that Bangladesh are currently focused on the West Indies series, as the upcoming matches are important to their hopes of reaching the World Test Championship final.

"I think everyone is very focused on the Test match. The same in the Test match in Abu Dhabi, I think everyone was focused on the Test match and what's in front of them. I think there's that goal and that desire to play in the World Test Championship and this is the first time we've had that opportunity to be there. So I think everyone is going to be up and ready for the Test matches," said Phil Simmons.

Simmons then reiterated his support for Bangladesh against West Indies, saying he is backing the Tigers to do well against his home side without letting emotions get in the way.

"I have very good memories and pleasant memories of that tour. I was the leader of the winning side and hopefully I'll have the same memories here, being the winner of the winning side. I'm not that emotional to say, well look, oh it's the West Indies. When they're playing someone else, I'm on their side. When I'm playing against them, I still want to win the series," said Phil Simmons.

Phil Simmons has played down claims of chaos in Bangladesh’s camp ahead of the West Indies Test series following Mohammad Ashraful’s removal as batting coach.

Bangladesh vs West Indies 1st Test Preview

The BAN vs WI 1st Test presents an important challenge for both sides as they begin their red-ball campaign in Dhaka. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto will expect his team to make full use of familiar conditions and put the visitors under pressure with spin.

West Indies, meanwhile, enters the contest under the leadership of Roston Chase. Their recent warm-up performance, which saw them score 336/6 against a BCB XI, offered encouraging signs ahead of the Test. However, maintaining that form over five days against Bangladesh’s bowling attack will be a different challenge.

Pitch Report: What to Expect in Dhaka

The Mirpur pitch is expected to play a significant role in determining the outcome. Batters could find reasonable scoring opportunities early in the match, but the surface is likely to become more difficult as the game progresses.

Spinners may receive greater assistance from the third day onwards, with turn and inconsistent bounce potentially creating problems for both batting lineups. Winning the toss could prove valuable, particularly if the captain chooses to bat first and build a substantial total before conditions deteriorate.

Bangladesh’s greater familiarity with these surfaces gives them a potential advantage. West Indies will need patience and disciplined shot selection to counter the hosts' spin options.

BAN vs WI Head-to-Heads (Last 5 Tests)

West Indies have won four of the five most recent meetings listed in the supplied record, while Bangladesh claimed one victory. The results give the visitors an advantage in this recent head-to-head comparison.

Despite West Indies' stronger recent record, conditions in Dhaka could create a different contest. Bangladesh will hope home advantage helps them reverse the trend.

BAN vs WI 1st Test Predicted Playing XIs

Bangladesh Predicted XI

Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Jaker Ali (wk), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud.

West Indies Predicted XI

Tagenarine Chanderpaul, John Campbell, Brandon King, Kavem Hodge, Roston Chase (c), Joshua Da Silva (wk), Justin Greaves, Kevin Wickham, Jomel Warrican, Kemar Roach, Shamar Joseph.

BAN vs WI 1st Test Key Player Battles to Watch

Taijul Islam vs Tagenarine Chanderpaul

Taijul's accuracy and ability to exploit turning conditions could make life difficult for Chanderpaul at the top of the order. The West Indies opener will need to defend patiently and avoid giving Bangladesh early wickets.

Mushfiqur Rahim vs Jomel Warrican

Mushfiqur's experience against spin could prove valuable as the pitch begins to turn. Warrican will look to vary his flight and pace, forcing the veteran batter to make difficult decisions outside his comfort zone.

Shamar Joseph vs Najmul Hossain Shanto

Shamar Joseph offers West Indies a chance to strike before spin becomes the dominant factor. His pace and ability to generate movement could test Shanto early in the innings. Bangladesh's captain will need to negotiate that threat before settling into his batting.
