Zim vs Ban 3rd T20 Powerplay Live: Zimbabwe Reaches 41/1

BULAWAYO: Zimbabwe reached 41 for 1 after the mandatory powerplay in the series-deciding third T20 International against Bangladesh at the Queen’s Sports Club.

Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Zimbabwe's skipper Sikandar Raza looked to break the series trend. However, Bangladesh’s bowling attack responded with an incredibly tight opening display under bright Bulawayo skies.

Mahedi Strikes Early

The visitors did not have to wait long for their first breakthrough. Opening bowler Mahedi Hasan struck in his very first over, dismissing the dangerous Tadiwanashe Marumani for just 4 runs off 5 balls. Marumani fell while attempting to clear the infield, leaving the hosts reeling early at 6 for 1.

Bennett and Myers Steer the Recovery

Following the early setback, young batting prospect Brian Bennett teamed up with Dion Myers to navigate through the field restrictions. Bennett showed excellent intent, anchoring the recovery by cracking a series of crisp boundaries against both pace and spin.Veteran paceman Taskin Ahmed bowled an exceptionally disciplined line to suppress the scoring rate, conceding a mere 12 runs from his 3 overs in the powerplay.

Despite Taskin's frugality, Bennett's counter-attacking boundaries lifted Zimbabwe to 41/1 by the conclusion of the 6th over, ensuring the hosts kept a stable platform for the middle overs. With the series deadlocked at 1-1, the battle at Bulawayo remains completely in the balance.
