At the MA Chidambaram Stadium, 19-year-old Yuvraj Samra smashed 110 off 65 balls against the New Zealand national cricket team, striking 11 fours and six sixes in a fearless knock.

At 19 years and 141 days, Samra became the youngest player ever to score a century in the Men’s T20 World Cup, surpassing Ahmed Shehzad’s previous record of 22 years and 127 days, set against Bangladesh in 2014. He also became the first player from an Associate nation to score a hundred in the tournament’s history.

Yuvraj Samra (Canada) registered his hundred at 19 years and 141 days against New Zealand in Chennai during the 2026 edition. Ahmed Shehzad (Pakistan) was 22 years and 127 days old when he scored his century against Bangladesh in Mirpur in 2014. Suresh Raina (India) achieved the milestone at 23 years and 156 days against South Africa in 2010.

Alex Hales (England) reached his hundred at 25 years and 83 days versus Sri Lanka in 2014. Glenn Phillips (New Zealand) joined the list at 25 years and 327 days against Sri Lanka in the 2022 tournament.

Samra’s century powered Canada to 173-4 against a bowling attack featuring Matt Henry, Jacob Duffy and Kyle Jamieson. However, New Zealand chased down the target in 15.1 overs, with unbeaten half-centuries from Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips sealing a comfortable victory.
